lmao more personable? how about more annoying for everyone involved

Have to do this at my work too, so annoying... Watching everyone burst out in anger every single time and us having to take it in the face every time instead of them just reading a sign.
Loh-Doh6 points1y ago
True, though in my experience the average customer is illiterate, so signs rarely help anyway. Maybe yall have had better experiences? At my store though, signs don't work; it's the same as telling everyone personally anyway.
EDIT: What even is English?

One of the things I hate the most is any sort of higher up, even if it's just a supervisor, not sticking up for their employees. I get why, and it's as simple as talking about it after, but man. It feels bad sometimes. Like y'all only have each other, corporate doesn't care about you.
I'm sorry it hasn't been a smooth couple of days :(

People suck...

Ugh, my licensed store also has the no putting up a sign rule. One time I got fed up and made one anyway when the espresso machine was down. My manager tried to take it down and I was like, “it’s really exhausting to go through the list of which drinks we can make every single time” and she didn’t care but then when I brought up that it saves customers from wasting their time, that changed her mind

I always back up my baristas within reason(99.9 percent of the time), like this example. As a shift it’s more important to support/back your baristas especially with tyrant like customers, the rules go for everyone including you miss 50 lol

I’m so sorry, that sounds awful :( I’ve had a couple jobs (food service) that stressed me out like this and made me cry and at the time I thought I just had to deal with that when working a minimum wage job and maybe I’m coming from a place of privilege but I’m now of the opinion that you don’t need to deal with that and there are jobs that won’t make you feel like shit (like my current job at my starbs)

Since when do we only accept 20s?
Frosty-Shelter73729 points1y ago
I feel like each shift has different rules and I’ve worked at 2 stores so I really thought we don’t take anything higher than 20. I’ve told other customers no before and have been encouraged to do so.
Starbucks has strict rules until a customer has a complaint. Then the customer gets whatever they want, fuck the rule that you drilled into us so hard.

I worked at 5 different stores over 10 plus years and was never a rule that’s why I was confused. Personally, if they want to pay with a $100 dollar bill that’s fine. But they are getting rolls of coins rather than bills. Good chance they won’t pull that stunt again.
thedevvylee1 points1y ago
Yea my SM told me we don’t accept 50$ and have to ask if they have another form of payment and if they don’t we can take it then which I’m still like 🤷🏽♀️
cherib0mbb1 points1y ago
we accept bills over 20s at my store but half the time we dont have enough change in the cash drawer so we cant take it
rubberboss1-14 points1y ago
We can’t deny legal tender but sorry that situation made you feel that way
MrDrProfessorBalls13 points1y ago
our store doesn’t accept anything higher than a $20 too but our reason is that we can’t give you back $45 in change for your $5 drink on a fifty cause we only carry 5’s and 1’s in our drawers. If the order was super cheap, doing that transaction could clear out a drawer. I have definitely turned down a tender when they expect me to have $80 in change. We’re cashiers not banks
