Blacklist? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Guccitama
Is there a blacklist system? Had to quit last minute due to severe mental health issues but am in need of a job. I've applied to multiple locations but have gotten no calls back. Is it not possible for me to get hired again at sbux?

From what I was told, I MAY be wrong. So please correct me. But my store manager who was previously a DM said that essentially there’s an option that they select which essentially states if you’re hireable or not. And since Starbucks knows that you previously worked there, all managers have access to that information.

Call the partner hotline and they will tell you your rehire status- If you’re eligible or not

Am I allowed to call the partner hotline if I'm no longer a partner?

yes

When you quit your manager leaves notes about your performance that new managers and other locations have access to. It basically states if they believe you’re eligible for rehire or not.

Oh it leaves notes?? Like details beyond just rehirable or not status? I'm exceptionally curious now since I just reapplied and got a call back within a couple of days.

I hate to break it to you but if you didn’t put in your two weeks theres a 90% chance they listed you as ineligible for rehire BUT don’t quote me on that I would still most definitely call partner resources.
If that’s the case you could always use the skills you learned on a new, updated resume and check your local area for coffee shops if that’s truly your passion. Don’t worry about it too much my friend

Ymmv because I thoguht i was marked as unrehirable bc of the two weeks but i called recently and I am

How long ago did you leave the company? Even if listed as nonrehireable, every SM could make their own decision. If its been awhile, you may try stopping by and introducing yourself and being honest, and also explaining how things would be different this time.
Guccitama [OP] 1 points 1y ago
I left the company in April, I saw on another discussion that the status could stay in effect for 6 months but I don't know how true that is.
roomoney 1 points 1y ago
The status stays on your record indefinitely as it is a part of your separation record and we can access it years down the road. The only difference is has enough time passed to where you can show you have changed or grown from it. I would say due to the short amount of time since leaving, as an SM it would be a no from me unfortunately. I'm sorry.

How long should I wait before reapplying/calling a store? I've just had an awfully traumatic year, was told by other staff I was a solid worker, my mental health has been fragile and that really messed stuff up for me.
roomoney 2 points 1y ago
Honestly, I would worry about yourself. Work on yourself. Being a barista is extremely stressful and as a manager, I would hate to add to your fragile mental state. I understand you need a job, but I think you should be looking for jobs that would help your mental state, not potentially take away from it. I say that with so much love and compassion, and as someone who has had their mental health completely obliterated by this company.

i left starbucks as a no call no show as a shift last year due to mental health. essentially i was fired, i had to call starbucks resources to explain the situation and i was “unfired”, you could say. i also explained the situation to my new manager and he has been really understanding. i *believe* if you’re fired, you can’t be rehired unless you reach out
Brgnbo 1 points 1y ago
Your manager could have put notes in about you not having a two week notice OR Starbucks really sucks at getting back on applications. It took me so long to get hired tbh I had to call some stores multiple times just to check on my application.

You can absolutely be marked “not eligible for re-hire” when you quit depending on the situation
