Update waiting in parking lot overnight because of shift lead (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by JustViolet12_7_2_20
Final update: DM won't fire shift lead due to evidence being circumstantial. I am permanently transferring locations as working with the shift lead would be a danger to my safety.

Update: After receiving the now deleted threats from my shift lead on reddit I screenshot them and sent them to our SM and DM. I also updated my ethics hotline report to include the written threat. The DM is offering me a temporary transfer while they finish their investigation of the shift lead involved in the incident. Thank you all again for the support.

Some people were wanting an update on the shift lead that wouldn't let me call AAA.
We filed a report with the ethics compliance hotline.
We called HR but they refused to make a report as they consider shift leads colleagues and not supervisors of baristas, and therefore issues with shift leads should be brought up with store managers, according to the HR personal I spoke with. I'm not sure if this is accurate or if the HR personal just didn't feel like filing a report.
We spoke to the store manager about the incident.
I will be speaking with the district manager about the incident and the possibility of retaliation with this week. Advice on what to say is welcome. In my opinion keeping this shift lead in their current position is an employee lawsuit waiting to happen.
Thanks for the support I received in the original post.

I would just have the conversation revolve around safety and feeling supported. That you do not know how you can continue to be your best self when someone blatantly cares so little about you and your wellbeing - use our mission & values to bring it back to things the company stands by.

I just can’t believe someone left you alone like that and it seems like everyone is just shrugging. I close a lot and in a bad area, I’ve waited 30-40 minutes for someone’s ride to show up and taken many people home. I just couldn’t justify leaving someone in danger like that.

Ikr and the shift lead had the gall to be like "do you feel safe taking out the trash, it's after dark" like being in a busy parking lot for five minutes to go to the dumpster is way different than being alone in an abandon parking lot for almost 4 hours.

as the other person said, just keep reiterating that u felt so unsafe and unsupported as a partner of starbucks, and super sorry u went thru that.

I don't know the full situation, but I think open and honest conversation is best. If you being up lawsuits, that might make them go on the defense and put the DM in a cover sbux interests mode. Like they are being attacked? Having an honest conversation about a bad experience you had, and what all parties can do to prevent it going forward seems easier for all. If that makes sense.

You sound incredibly toxic. This comment alone shows that the partners in your location are not leading with empathy which is one of starbuck's main core values.

OP, screenshot this comment. As they have literally left you a written threat.

Good luck with you dm!

Already made screenshots and contacted the store manager and district manager. Will be updating my report to the ethics compliance hotline as well.

This is something you need to handle IRL if you know OP, *not* by revealing their names. Good luck with your situation.
