I’m kinda tired of people ordering hot nondairy lattes and then waiting 20 min to pick them up and then they complain that the cup isn’t filled to the top bc the foam dissolved (self.starbucksbaristas)

Mfs do this with cappuccinos too. Complete morons
Kari86MRH 29 points 1y ago
I made the mistake of not changing out of my SB shirt before going to Walmart and an older man stopped me to complain that the last 4 cappuccinos he got at a SB were 3/4 foam. I...🤦‍♀️

The audacity of this bitch
Kari86MRH 11 points 1y ago
Right... like I'm just trying to get groceries, my dude. If it bothers you so much, try bringing it up AT Starbucks
charliemagnee 3 points 1y ago
Props to you for being so nice because I probably would have actually said that to him lol👀
cherib0mbb 28 points 1y ago
omg i hate when people order the shaken espresso with light ice and then complain its not filled all the way. like dude the whole drink is ice
Very-_-Disappointing 9 points 1y ago
The default is to fill the rest with milk now. If they order in drive/cafe, you’re supposed to ask if they want more milk or room. If it’s a mobile or delivery, you assume milk and fill it up.
cherib0mbb 0 points 1y ago
ohh the way we were told was if they want light ice we have to ask if they want to fill it to the top with milk and if they do we have to charge them for it instead of just doing a splash, which also makes some ppl mad
Very-_-Disappointing 2 points 1y ago
The recipe changed when they changed the name, so the milk is now included in the price and is on the charge side of the milk screen. So milk isn’t charged extra beyond the up charge for non-dairies/hc/hh.

Omg yes that too

we have a customer that comes in and orders a “coconut milk cappuccino, dry” and I just wonder about him…
Very-_-Disappointing 8 points 1y ago
We had a customer like that. Always wanted it extra dry and would send it back multiple times if not dry enough. We always started the order saying it does not foam well and they always insisted that they wanted an extra dry coconut cappuccino. It always took 3-4 pitchers to get enough foam. Huge fucking waste of time!
[deleted] 7 points 1y ago
SUCH a waste 😭 most I can try for is a damp short coconut cap, but they’re tripping if expecting more than an inch of foam if that
Very-_-Disappointing 2 points 1y ago
They always got a grande. We wasted so much milk just to scoop the small amount of foam created off. Haven’t seen them in a while so hopefully they moved and will never come back! I just don’t get what the point is because when you drink it, the shots will just fall through the dry foam and then what? Do you scoop the foam out with a spoon? People are too much.
uh-no-why 3 points 1y ago
I have a regular like this! 5 shot almond milk cappuccino dry…
Necessary_Low939 1 points 1y ago
Hate those bone dry customers. They probably have a bone dry personality too. I’ll be like is this dry enough for u?
ucmyproblemisthis378 17 points 1y ago
Absolute idiots. Do you know what you ordered? Clearly not
shiftyclub 13 points 1y ago
shoutout to the venti heavy cream cappuccino that’s never dry enough
dallizzlee 8 points 1y ago
A lady got mad yesterday because her nitro was “mixed” (flat????). Yes because you mobile ordered it 20 minutes ago.
Pickle-Chunk 8 points 1y ago
We don’t do nitro until they get there for that reason.

Literally had this happen to me today too, she asked if it was the right drink because it “looked too dark”
Varadgrim 2 points 1y ago
I work at a licensed store (in a hotel), and there's a lady from the sales team who watches bar like a hawk every time she orders her extra dry caps... If you don't scoop the foam out of the pitcher she will yell at you to do it the other way...
Necessary_Low939 1 points 1y ago
Omg yes. I’m like you came after two hours. What do you expect?

I mean...some baristas need to learn how to steam nondairy milk so theres not an excessive amount of foam. I literally always order my soy latte with extra soy on the side bc often times i can literally scoop out enough foam to fit an extra 3-4 oz of milk inside. When i ask for no foam they pour all the milk into the cup and only use the spoon to scoop the foam at the top, which doesnt work nearly as well as using the spoon while pouting the milk bc scooping the foam off the top leaves space, then all the foam in the drink is gonna rise to the top after a couple minutes, and once i scoop that off ill have around an inch or so of space in the cup that couldve been filled with hot, 90% foamless soy milk.
NotBuilt2Behave 10 points 1y ago
Just ask for no foam then, they’ll make it so the milk doesn’t really aerate and instead gets hot. Not hard
Coverme6 -13 points 1y ago
I mentioned what happens when i order it with no foam. The way you described is how i do it when i get a no foam drink, but not everyone does that.
[deleted] 3 points 1y ago
Starbucks brand of non-dairy is flat and doesn’t foam well, period. Longer time stretching only kills it more. Oat(ly) needs to catch up to Chobani, I steamed their extra creamy version and it was damn near silky as whole milk!

>I mean…customers also need to learn that foam dissipates after 10 minutes if they order a regular latte or macchiato, even if the milk is steamed properly. The amount of milk we steam is marked for least amount of waste on the pitchers and that amount of milk cold is not going to fill the cup, ever.

Why'd u delete ur reply and downvote me u/devilsadvokate7 ? I agree, but I still think most baristas tend to steam nondairy milk the way they would regular milk, and it results in too much foam. I drank nondairy lattes almost every day for 4 years, and it got to the point where i wouldnt let anyone else make it bc they always put too much foam. I went to my local starbucks to get my free meal and drink up until the policy ended and they put too much foam legit 90% of the time.

While the customer needs to understand that foam disspates and they really should be leaving their order sitting around for long, baristas need to make sure they learn how to properly steam non-dairy milk.
