the way they call us “partners” to make us think we actually matter to the company. were just numbers to all of them

i had something similar happen about a month ago. corporate and our dm were at the store and kind of hung around for 2.5 hours, we were absolutely slammed, with wait times of 40-45 minutes since 3 other stores nearby are closed until after the new year. dt was of course wrapped. 5 call outs that morning.
but what do we get? certainly not mobiles shut off or any kind of help, but fucking candy canes. JOLLY RANCHER FLAVORED CANDY CANES. FROM CORPORATE. with a goddamn sticky note that said “thanks for all you do!”
later that day our DM brought in donuts, pizza, and personally hand written appreciation cards for all the baristas who were there that morning since she felt bad that we couldn’t get mobiles off or additional support. kind of sucks when the DM cares more than actual corporate lol
edited just to add that the box of candy canes only had 4. so not even all of morning crew could get one 🙃

Here is a thought, why don’t they put on an apron & help. Even taking out the trash is helpful. Do a load of dishes. It’s not that hard to be helpful.

Who's the smooth brain that doesn't understand how bad the optics of corporate suits having meetings in stores while the staff is slammed truly are?
yo, Seattle, I know you're lurking, take your meetings somewhere else if you want to turn down the temperature on all the union talk. I'd be a start.

Unionize!

cuz they (DM's and above and sadly many store managers) DO NOT KNOW how to do the job of a barista

I used to work at a restaurant and corporate there would do the same thing, slammed hard, understaffed and corporate would walk around chatting doing fuck all, not helping and giving word of their appreciation.. instead of jumping in to help. They’re legit the laziest mfs I’ve seen and it always depresses me that the workers are doing everything they can to stay afloat while these corporate dogs don’t lift a finger..
