Advice for a possible new SB barista (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by kay_blater99
I have an interview on Tuesday, and I’d really appreciate hearing from current or past baristas on their experience working at SB.
Pros and cons? Would you recommend getting a job there? Did you have a helpful/supportive team? Did it affect your mental/physical health? Any tips if I get hired?

Management 100% makes or breaks it. I’ve gone through 4 managers in the last year and only one of them have been good - the rest have been absolutely awful. I really don’t recommend it, the pay isn’t that good, it’s very high stress, and our customers are the absolute worst.

I’m sorry to hear that. I’m sure you’re right. I appreciate your response. I hope it gets better for ya.🙃

current barista here!

pros & cons vary per location, so whatever mine are could be different from others!

i personally would recommend getting a job here. there are just a lot of benefits provided and having a really good team can make it even better. i have an extremely supportive team! we’re kind of like a found family, but we do keep everything at an extent so that personal issues aren’t interfering with our work. having a good team is what will make or break you at a sb location.

tips if you get hired:
- once you do training: learn how to sequence asap! it will make life easier

- don’t be afraid to ask for help for your first month or two, trust me

- be really careful about who’s getting caffeinated drinks and who isn’t, same with lactose and non-lactose

- mental health and physical health: prioritize it!

I appreciate you so much! I’m glad that you seem to be in such a good space.😊 I really want to work there for the tuition assistance, so I hope this works out. Best to you!
