General company policy is that you get a lunch if you work at least six hours. Labor laws trump company policy though.
Labor laws are highly dependent on the state. Not familiar with California's, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were required to give you the lunch.

Im in California. My shifts usually give us a 10 and let's us off 5 mins so we don't get penalties. But by law, you're supposed to take a 30 for anything 5 hours or longer. Not sure if it's company dependent or if it's the state law but I was able to sign a meal waiver for shifts that were 6 hours or less.

because of your shift length there is automatically going to be a lunch scheduled for you, even if you worked like 4 hours & 45 minutes & there’s nothing they can do about it except schedule you for a shorter shift but i would honestly see if your ssv is cool w just giving you a 10 right in the middle of it & letting you leave early. the only downside is if you leave 5 minutes early you’re store is going 25 minutes over in labor which may not be a big deal, but depending on the store manager it might be
