Is it true that supervisors have to work a minimum of 30 hours a week? Is that policy? If anyone knows, where can I find the policy on that? (self.starbucksbaristas)

In the partner guide on the page where it describes the levels of employment it does have “suggested” hours for each position but there are no requirements that an hourly partner work any certain amount of hours (unless certain states may have specific rules). That being said, the store manager has the right to deny any availability that doesn’t work for the business so if your store needs a 30+ hour shift your manager could set that stipulation.

Thank you for the info! I’ve been working for the company for about 5 years and have been a shift for 1 year, but when I told my manager I needed to cut back from 5-6 days to 4 days for school (which I could still be 30 hours with 4 days) he told me he never would’ve given me the promotion... that I got about a year ago. He’s been telling me supervisors aren’t even allowed to have any availability, that it’s supposed to be open and that we have to work a minimum of 30 hours.

I’ve heard that’s the rule of thumb but I don’t believe it’s policy. I dropped down to 4 days a week recently which means I average 26-30hrs a week mostly scheduled for 28hrs. I was at 35-40 before. And I have another fellow shift who is usually 21-27hrs a week.

We have a shift at my store that does 12 hours a week. It purely depends on what your store needs.

That makes sense, I just feel like my manager is giving false information to force me into keeping the same 5-6 days a week
