Today I was the opening SSV, the open went smooth we prepped 5 full mochas (which we went through by 8am). The fun happened at 7:15am right after peak started. We were already swamped by mobile orders we had a que of 50+ with stickers wrapped around the hopper, a lobby full of people and no sign of it stopping. This wasn’t even the worst part.
Where I live there is a mask mandate, we’re told not to police the issue but we do have signs posted on the doors. A lady came into the cafe full of people ripped the mask sign off the door and started screaming to the crowd of customers “I OWN THIS STORE AND EVERYONE NEEDS TO TAKE OFF THEIR MASKS RIGHT NOW” no one did. I went up to her and tried to talk to her but she ignored me and yelled the same thing. I told her my actually SM was in DTO. She didn’t care. I grabbed my SM and she looked stunned. The lady in question started handing out random drinks and food to customers. Went behind our bars and started grabbing product and red cups. At this point I called the police. Some customers started yelling back at her and trying to get her to leave but finally the cops came and removed her from the location. My DM showed up shortly after and said “if it happens again then we can ban her”.
It has to happened again? Really? Just another day hailing the siren

Haha ikr, last week we had a guy try to break into a girls car because she cut him off in the drive thru line…. He’s a regular that still gets to come in every day…

I saw a barista go to pull ice out of a “no ice trenta” drink with her bare hand. It was great. 98% sure she actually touched the pink drink. My shift and I just watched like “oh. She’s really doing that: huh…I would’ve grabbed the shaker cup and strained.”

I had the ability to people watch my barista coworkers today. I can see why my store has bad reviews. Cups that were 3/4 full, messy, had a “slight dollop” of WC because the girl ran out. It was great.

A lady at my store today ordered an oatmilk latte, once we made it she said it wasn't right and it was supposed to be coconut milk so I told her next time you order just make sure to select the correct milk so we can get it right the first time and she says, "NO I WANT OAT IN IT". Keep in mind this is mid peak and I'm busy making a million other drinks. I stop what I'm doing and go back to her to figure out what she meant. It took my shift and I like 3 minutes to figure out she wanted a latte with oatmeal in it and coconut milk. That was probably the most interesting thing to happen to me today.

Got yelled at by a "former partner" that we should be giving stuff away for free once our drive times got over 3 mins. I informed her it was Red Cup day and that we were down 2 partners and going a fast as we could. Have her her drink and she continued berating me, holding up the line about how ridiculous it was.

We are out of peppermint and sugar cookie. And basically all food by noon. I was on dto today....do you know how many times I had to say im sorry we are out of peppermint and also sugarcookie

Legitimately my favorite experience with that was the other afternoon. We were out of peppermint and sugar cookie, however, we're basically the only Starbucks open past 2 pm except for maybe two or three licensed stores in Target and whatnot. Anyway, I told a lady we were out and she goes, "okay then I'm going to a different store."

i was DTO and a lady ordered a peppermint mocha and then a regular iced coffee with some caramel brulee.
as i was handing her the drinks i said "hey, you get a free red cup today" and she was like "im suppose to get 2 of them" and i said "no ma'am, you only ordered 1 of the official holiday drinks, the iced coffee doesnt count" and she said "ok well then i want the official one"
ok miss ma'am, its mid peak and your holding up my drive thru so i just handed her a red cup to make her get out of my window 😂

Oh no. We petty. We would have done a “return” of the drink she didn’t want and then charge her the difference between that one and the one she really wanted. No drink no cup.

i would've done it that way if she was in the cafe but we were struggling with our drive time so i was like ok whatever. she had an attitude anyways and i was having a good day and didnt want to ruin it lol

Honestly it wasn't terrible this year for us; my opening barista ncns and it's my first day back in a week (due to being sick) so it was a rough start but peak we only had a 35min wait on mobiles which is pretty good for us

Opening shift was in a car accident in her way to work, one no call/ no show, ran out of red cups at 7 AM, electricity went out at 9:30AM and had to have customers leave, power came back on at 9:35, drive-thru never came on and is still off today 😬
