Customers changing their mind between the register and counter (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by snitchesendupinditch
This is probably my #1 pet peeve at work. It drives me up the wall when people order something at the register and then when they get exactly what they ordered they say they asked for something completely different.

We had a girl come to the register and order a grande strawberry acai. Just to be sure, my coworker asked her if she wanted it made with water or lemonade and she answered lemonade.

Three minutes later I set down her grande strawberry acai lemonade and she tells me she ordered a venti pink drink.

It makes me mad cause I know nobody is making a mistake during these encounters. Customers know exactly what they're doing; ordering a cheaper drink and then saying we screwed up so they can get a more expensive drink remade for free.

That’s when I take them up front and refund the original drink and charge their actual drink. Blame corporate and needing inventory to be correct or some bullshit. I usually don’t care but I’m not getting bitched at by my manager and the customers for their stupidity

SO many people do this trying to get substitutions/extras that cost money. A lady today asked if it was 'too late' to change to oat milk and add sweet cream foam. I told her about the extra charges and she got mad and snapped 'FINE never mind then' like why do people think that'll work?

I quit this year but before I did I had absolutely no problem reading the sticker to them and telling them they shoulda made sure when the order was read back to them that it was correct. Then make them pay for the proper price. Starbucks customers are so rude that I had absolutely no problem being rude back. No other place can you act like this and I think it’s completely expectable to reiterate that we don’t put up with it either.

I fucking hate when they do that shit. Especially to the visibly slammed baristas. When you interrupt their flow like that for a drink that is like 20 down the line I really want to ask you to leave. I don't let them get away with shit like that at the drive-thru. If I don't have their drink ready in hand, I have then confirm it for me before I charge them.

As a customer, I've e forgotten to ask for blonde shots or light ice before. But that's my fucking fault. I've only ever said something when I'm on break at my own store and it's dead. Otherwise I don't bother them with my mistake.

My store has people who constantly change their entire orders at the window. Like they decide no I actually don’t want that and they totally start over. It’s nuts
