I hit em with it on DTO too. "Welcome back to X Starbucks! We really appreciate your patience. What can I get you?" I do feel like people often just want someone to acknowledge that they've been waiting. It can take the edge off.

it totally does work like a charm tho like im ALWAYS on DTO or window and every time I'm at window I pull the "thank you so much for your patience, it really means a lot" and I look all sympathetic and they usually just smile and are like "i get it" like thank you
