Interview for Barista position tomorrow, advice?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by snoodleboop
Hello! So this will be my first ever interview with Starbucks. My partner has worked there for about two and a half years, and they’ve been helping me get ready for my interview tomorrow! They also lead me here to get some advice from you guys because different perspectives will help prepare me best. Any tips or advice? I know to just be myself and be genuine with who I am, and I’m excited to get there!

be super friendly & outgoing!! it may take you a little bit to warm up to customers or to figure out how to interact, but show your potential manager that you're capable & determined to have excellent customer service. that's all this job is, customer service. you'll learn everything else during training & working on the floor, but if you're not a people person, you might not get hired. be loud, showcase your personality, be friendly!! hold & add to the conversation, be personable, be honest. make sure you say you're a fast learner! (hopefully you are) you're gonna do great, don't be nervous!! just be real hope it goes well!!

I went to my interview last Tuesday and got offered a job on the spot. They said they really liked me and I seemed to be very customer service-oriented. During my interview, they asked me a lot of questions about what good customer service meant to me and how I approach challenges. I second the being friendly and outgoing part. If they can sense that you’re enthusiastic about the job and that you care about the customer service experience, you’ll be more likely to land the job. I went to the interview dressed semi-casually with a plain black t-shirt, black jeans, and white shoes. I hope this helped in any way. Good luck tomorrow!

Ahhh! Congrats! Thank you for the advice! I’m wearing a gray mock turtleneck with nice dark jeans and black flats. Does that sound good?

That sounds great! I think as long as there’s no rips in the jeans and the clothes are solid (no patterns), you’ll really stand out and make a great impression. Along with how friendly and excited you come across, you’ll knock the interview out of the ballpark for sure! :)
