what is the training process like? is it hard to remember all the drinks?

Bullshit, caffeine addicts, coworkers crying in the back room, little to no off days, exhaustion from long days, customers with ridiculously long or unnecessary orders, and crack heads. BUT free drinks, Spotify, food items, and therapy. 🙃

if you’re artistic you’ll love being on bar, it’s my only way to creatively express myself while making money. however, depending on your store, (and especially now for holiday season), you might get overwhelmed as fuck, and customers might take out their anger on you. no matter what, always know what’s best for you and do what you need to be happy. also, learning drinks isn’t too difficult as it’s very streamlined but you’ll learn that coffee drinkers at starbucks really don’t know what they’re ordering most of the time/ they don’t really even like coffee in the first place. you’ll see what i mean when you deal with mobile orders.

thank you! how long does it take to get on bar? i heard you start with the register then you get to making drinks

yeah so when my bf started he was on register first then thrown on cs and scheduled to do cs for 8 months before actually putting him on bar. when i started i spent a month or two on register then cs and then they put me on bar (and they always… put me on bar now) lol anyways i’m pretty sure they will put you on bar about a month or so into the job, but they won’t leave you alone there for a couple weeks so you’ll have time to get used to it. his situation was just the management being horrible but hopefully you have better management! i am very hopeful that all starbucks managers aren’t like that and want you to learn. please enjoy your time learning as well and don’t feel pressured, stay open about your feelings and how comfortable you are

But no honestly drinks are really simple when you get it down. Just remember everything is either a variation of lattes, traps, or refreshers. And once you’ve got that down you practically are good to go. Remember the amount of shots that go into Each size as well as syrups. Learn how to say no, that’s really important especially if you’re understaffed. Training if you’re lucky will be like videos, and reading for like the first week. Then depending on your location you’ll learn Customer support, Pos (register), and then Bar (Drinks). Have fun.
