I quit and came back as a supervisor (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by sonjalucile
To make a long story short, I quit in July and came back a month ago. Today I got promoted to supervisor and I’m back in the saddle again. Any tips on how to handle a store with a lot of drama? Would love all of the advice!!!

Are you primarily open, mids or closing? I might have some advice for mids and closing. 🤗 Fellow SSV here

Niiiice those are superior 🙌 How I handle some drama is ironically to give everyone their space. I have a lot of high school kids that close with me and the more anyone tries to micromanage them or boss them around, the less they want to do and the more uncooperative they become. So for closing especially, I have a master list of all the closing tasks we need to do in a thick sheet protector. We all work on it and cross off items with a dry erase marker as the night goes on 😊 So the kids never feel like they're being bossed around or constantly being micromanaged. It cuts down on drama for us 🤷‍♀️ And I like to remind everyone that the better we work together and not tear each other apart, the faster we'll go home and the less stressed out we'll be. Additionally, as the ssv, you have a lot of control over the vibe and the tone of your shift, so use that to your advantage. Once people know that you don't tolerate drama, they might start to imitate you. 😊

Also helps to tell the kiddos “hey we get out early if stuff gets done” and magically they work 10x faster
