SM Made me turn my sweatshirt inside out(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by mini-maggit
I had on a sweatshirt I had worn to work at least 3 times. It has a 4 leaf clover on it blue nothing too crazy. My SM immediately told me it was against dress code, and upon telling her I’ve worn it before she made me turn it inside out because the blue was against dress code too. It’s literally dark blue. Was this ok or am I kinda justified in being a little upset?

I understand them being upset about the clover cuz logos like that are technically out of dress code. But the color doesn't make sense cuz if you live in the US, navy blue is literally a part of the dress code 😂

also turning it inside out doesn’t usually change the color…

it hides the logo

i cant do the quote thing bc i’m on mobile but “she made me turn it inside out because the blue was against dress code too.” like ? yeah it’s gonna hide the logo but what’s the point of telling op that they’re turning it inside out because of the color ?

We have been having random corporate visits at stores. Regional managers and up. So likely someone made a comment to your manager and she has to actually enforce the dress code.

This. As much as it sucks that you can’t wear a sweatshirt you like anymore, it is technically against the dress code. More than likely, your manager wouldn’t be scrutinizing your every move if they didn’t have their own manager scrutinizing THEIR every move.
The blue part just sounds petty though. Reminds me of an incident we had at my store. We’re allowed to wear red on Fridays, and one barista wore a red long sleeve undershirt. Our SM made her take it off because it was “more orange than red” 🙄

Nah, no need (or reason) to be upset. I used to work at Walt Disney World and parents would be so upset that their child wouldn’t be allowed to ride a ride due to height restrictions, although they’d ridden it before…meaning they made it past the height check somehow. Just be happy you got away with it the times you did and move on.

I mean, were you out of dress code? Yes. Was telling you to turn your freaking shirt inside out the first step? No! I would've just been like, "yo, ballin sweatshirt, love the vibe, still not dresscode though so make sure you don't wear it again. Go to starbucks.com/dresscode if you need a quick reference."

this is the same energy as when i wore a flannel several times before i had a shift yell at me for being out of dress code…while they were wearing one almost identical to mine

Dark/navy blue's in dresscode, pattern/logo/images are not, unfortunately. Unless it's sbux promoted somehow 8/
