Hey friend
No job, position,or anything for that matter is more important than your mental health. Especially if you are having these very powerful feelings. Please call off. Tell them you are having a family emergency, this way they don't get ask about it and you don't have to share until you are ready. 🥺🥺 Please feel better and feel free to reach out for any help I can offer.

Just call in and say you're sick, same as you would for any other condition. You are never obligated to explain exactly what is wrong when you call off sick, but if someone asks and you don't want to explain, just say you have food poisoning and can't even leave the bathroom rn. Most people won't question that.
Obviously I don't know your financial situation, but Lemonaid provides services even without insurance. I use them for my birth control, but they also offer help for depression, anxiety, insomnia, etc. They're pretty reasonably priced compared to most American healthcare (my BC is $45 every three months, compared to the $30/month I was paying for my other prescription when insurance refused to cover it), so maybe that's something to look into until you can work out your insurance and inpatient.
Your mental health is more important than Starbucks, and it's the manger's job to find coverage when someone is sick. It's easy to feel bad about letting your coworkers down, but ultimately you're going to be able to help them better in the future by taking care of yourself now. Please don't feel bad for trying to take care of yourself.

I’m so sorry you’re going through that. I have the same worries when I need to call in when I’m in a mental health crisis. To echo everyone else, it is completely appropriate to call out when you need it, whether it’s physical or mental health. Not going to work for a day or a few is a step towards improving your mental health. Your mental health takes priority over Starbucks, customers, and even the convenience of your coworkers.
