Are holiday shifts voluntary across the company or does it depend on the district? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I've been at two different stores with three different DMs and all holiday shifts have been voluntary. Is this not the case for everyone? I have only worked in one district so I want to know how other districts are ran. Thanks!

Only Christmas is voluntary company wide. Every other holiday you have to request off, and that doesn’t guarantee you get it unless there aren’t a million requests already.

There is literally no written policy on this. Christmas is not voluntary. Almost every store tries to make it voluntary, but if no one volunteers people will be assigned to that day. I was so upset when I found out and chased this answer all the way up to my DM.

I think it depends on your store. It was optional at my current store and not at my last store. I think people will try to make it voluntary but if enough people don't volunteer, people will get scheduled anyway. Except Christmas, in my experience if people don't sign up for Christmas the store will just be closed.
