Have a discussion with your SM first. If things don’t change or you don’t feel heard. Two weeks if you even want to give them that.

Bro I’m in this exact boat right now. I haven’t had a singular day off in two weeks - and whenever a partner calls out my manager sticks their hours into my schedule without ASKING? I hate this coffee cult

this job wasn’t always like this. it breaks my fucking heart because i used to be so passionate about it, and now i hate what this company stands for. because i don’t think it stands for ANYTHING anymore.

The bullshit part for me is 6 days work adding up to 32 hours when most "normal" jobs are 8 hours a day and you could get these hours in 4 days and have 3 days off a week. I mean, maybe the half days suit your lifestyle better but if it were me, I'd rather 3 days off a week and work the same hours. And if you only need 20-25 hours a week, 3 days at 8 hours a day is all you would need. There must be a better job opportunity somewhere else.

kinda my issue, tbh. the fact that 32 hours is my *whole week* instead of just… half of it. i used to work the same amount of hours in 4-5 days, broken up by breaks in between, so that’s why i’m really frustrated. our store literally only has 8 people staffed *period* right now, though, so… it’s either suck it up, or leave.

idk where else i’ll get the same benefits and freedoms — i have a lot of piercings and colored hair, and i’m going back to school so i need somewhere that can work around that schedule. not that i think this store in particular will do that for me, anyway; they had a meeting recently where the DM told them he hated hiring students because of how difficult it makes scheduling.

i’m stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Where do you live? Larger city? Many coastal urban centers have low barrier social housing projects that have reasonable pay and flexible hours. I mention "coastal" because drug abuse and addiction is usually a factor and port cities tend to have greater issues with this because 1) drugs come in on boats and 2) it's usually warmer and people can live on the streets easily.

These housing projects don't give a fuck about your piercings or hair colour. Not many people know these jobs exist. Many are staffed 24/7 and run 12 hour shifts so you could get your 24 hours in 2 days. But that's only an option if you live in a progressive urban environment. Just thought I'd throw that out there in case it's an option.

I had no economic alternative but to be worked like this for a couple years. Our district and store were short leads, so I had to work six day weeks with a single day off in between. Lots of clopens, requesting a day off was practically impossible.

i’ve worked 6 day weeks for like 4 weeks in a row now and i am TIRED.

God I feel for you.

This exact thing happens to me. I had to put my foot down and tell my ASM that I require two days off. I have a full fledged farm and have animals to also take care of. Kinda like having two jobs.

We have the same staffing issues.

I have some of the same emotions and feelings.

set your days off in your availability. i’ve been doing 38-40 hour weeks (47 this week RIP) for 5 days then always have two days back to back out of my availability so i can have them off. which days they are have changed over time for whatever reasons, but the routine of it is so nice and having a two day break rather than one here or there makes it so much easier to actually relax and feel like you’re getting a break.

see, i shot myself in the foot by not having a set availability right now, and it’s gonna be time for school to start in about a month so i have to wait until THEN to set my availability since i wouldn’t be able to change it again that soon. 😭 i’ll definitely be doing something like that when classes start, though, and they’re just gonna have to suck it up.

Why not change it that soon?
