passive aggressive manager (self.starbucksbaristas)

i’m a relatively new partner so i don’t know all the tricks of the trade yet. my manager texted me at 4am to tell me my store wouldn’t be opening today and to report to the other location in my town. i called in sick yesterday, and wasn’t feeling great today either, so i said i wouldn’t be coming in. my manager told me that i should review the attendance policy & that it’s not okay to call in twice a week. i offered to bring in a doctor’s note, but she told me not to. if i’m legitimately sick why is it an issue? she threatened to cut my hours as well. not sure what to do now.

Your manager is nuts. You aren’t able to control sickness - having 2 sick days off in a row is pretty much expected, it takes time to get better! Also if you’ve been sick with vomiting or diarrhoea you have to have 2 days off (UK law, not sure if law elsewhere). does she want you to go infect people at another store?? Also, threatening to cut your hours in retaliation is unacceptable. Do you have any proof of her saying any of this? Email/texts? Because I would be showing a DM, this is exploitative

She's cruising for a lawsuit and/or firing.

talk to the DM or call partner resources ASAP. if you’re sick and she’s forcing you to come in, she should be separated from the company. stay home.
