Weird Question (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Ilona-Grace
So about 2 years ago I used to work at Starbucks in a city about 3 hours away from where I live now, I actually enjoyed working there a fair amount, sure it was stressful but overall I liked the hours and the busy environment. I was supposed to transfer to the town I am in now and have Starbucks as my second job (we only have 3 stores here) but the transfer wasn’t organized soon enough and I had to move right before Christmas so I could start my new full time job, because of this I had to put in a two weeks notice that I was leaving on December 19th. I had a generally good relationship with my manager there but I think he was a little bitter about me leaving (to be fair I asked for the transfer months in advance and he purposely delayed it because he said he needed me for Xmas and Boxing Day). I am in a position now where I’d like to go back to Starbucks, preferably as an sv, but haven’t gotten anywhere with applications. I still remember all the drink recipes, date dot times, how to use the tills, etc etc etc and I’m wondering, how do I go about possibly getting starbs back as my full time job?? Do I go in person and just talk to the manager or do I stick to applying online?? Any help would be appreciated

but also, yeah! apply online, note that you’re a rehire, then go in or call and ask to speak to the manager. just be straight up!

Would it matter if my old manager marked me as don’t rehire? Idk if that’s a thing but my friends that still work at my old location think he did just because I had to leave before Xmas

Do not let others control your life. Go get what you want. Conversations solve a lot. I would go into the store where you want to work and tell the manager you want to work there. That's it.

We don't know that they marked you in the system as "do not rehire." That's speculative at best. We just know that they didn't do the transfer in a timely manner and we'll never really know why.

Lesson learned, do not rely on others to get you what you need. Best of luck!
