am i in the wrong? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by board-certified
so i took off monday thru friday this past week to drive 9 hours to spend time with my family for thanksgiving. on wednesday i woke up feeling like completely crap (fever, cough, congested) and i’ve been that way since today which is friday. i was supposed to drive back today because i’m scheduled to open and work 6:30-3 tomorrow. i made the decision to stay here and rest because i didn’t feel like i could make it back safely. i called the store and told the shift on duty my symptoms, my circumstance, and that i would be calling out for the shift in the morning. they said they’d notify people and write in the book. my manager just texted me saying “what’s going on and that they’re super confused why i didn’t call them” I’m a shift but i wasn’t scheduled as the shift and there was another shift who would be there opening too. Did i do anything wrong at all?

You’re not in the wrong. It is better that you called off in a timely manner due to exhibiting symptoms. Hope you are getting well.

i see what you mean but because tone is lost in text. i would think they would say those words directly like they have in the past.
