Vaccine Pay? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by ToffeeBuxSlut
Asked my SM “do we get paid for bring vaccinated ? I read somewhere something about up to 4 hours pay?” Her reply: “ only if you get vaccinated on a day your scheduled to work.” This makes no sense to me: I gotta call out, Find coverage… then get 2 hours pay that day, for each shot. 😐 what?! This sounds so wrong.

It is wrong. You get paid for getting a vaccine whether it’s a day off or not.

Any advice?

There’s also information on weekly update regarding vaccination policy regarding your two hours. It does not say it must be on your day off.

Thank you so much!

You get paid 2 hours per shot, including the booster! You're just supposed to write the hours in the book. Sucks that your manager is wrong about this, it's always awkward (at best) to correct your boss :/

no that’s not true. you only don’t get paid for covid vaccines you got before you were hired with the company (i got my first 2 in april, hired in august, booster this week. only got paid for the booster.)

To agree with everyone else, those hours are yours when you get the shot, it doesn’t need to be on a day you work or anything. I believe it just couldn’t be retroactive, like if you got it done several months ago you can’t write those hours in now.

Edit:

Also if you have to call out a day or so after because of the side effects etc you can use sick hours for that. You don’t lose the day.

How do we go about getting the two hour pay? I got my first two before I was hired but I did just get my booster a couple weeks ago on one of my days off.

I got both my shots before they started giving out the 4 hrs paid for it and it was added to my paycheck when I asked for it. Maybe see if they’ll retro pay for it?

I Suggest you find an online starbucks article about vaccine pay and ask your Manager about it, or ask a partner that seems to be in the know. I tried and it went nowhere. I am planning on speaking to a couple of partners to rally for more info, so even if it’s too late for me to benefit from it maybe someone else can.

It’s not too late BTW you can do it anytime. If they try and say so you can call partner support/ethics or speak to your DM.

Get the stupid shot and worry about the $ later. You are putting everyone else at risk for your $.
ToffeeBuxSlut [OP] 4 points 1y ago
The issue is not about being vaccinated its about not having a manager who allows you to take advantage of benefits available to us. I do not know the vaccine status of my coworkers but knowing we could have gotten a few extra bucks would help motivate others to get vaccinated. Also, the first vaccine shot I received, I worked later that day and felt super tired and I could have benefitted from a day off and a few hours pay to recover

No one stated otherwise. You're just looking for a fight. 🙄
