Hands down the weirdest interaction with a customer ever. I KNOW ITS A LONG STORY but I’m so confused by this interaction. (self.starbucksbaristas)

Him: Hi! Can I get 4 shots with ice blended in your largest cup and a venti cappuccino with extra whipped cream?

Me: Sure! For your 4 shots blended did you want any milk or sweetener?

Him: Umm yes, I said the mocha frap. Oh and also! Can you guys throw some coffee grounds on top of it?

*my shift and I lock eyes*

Us: You want like the used espresso grounds on top?

Him: Yea! Do you guys not do that? Oh it’s so good!! (Now looking at us like we are the crazy ones)

Us: Uh no but if that’s what you want I guess we can?

*I ring him up, he pays almost $15 and doesn’t question it*

*I call out his cappuccino*

Him: Aren’t these usually cold?

Me: Yes that is your cappuccino, you mocha with 4 shots will be out shortly.

Him: No it’s okay you don’t have to remake it!
*walks out of the store not to be seen the rest of the day*

This was at 9am and 12 hours later I still am just not connecting to dots

I worked at Starbucks for 5 years and only had one person ever ask for coffee grounds in their drink. They wanted an espresso puck from the machine blended into their frap. They got it a couple of times and we always made disgusted faces while making it, but, hey, the customer was happy.

The first time I saw one of my partners pull out an espresso puck and drop it in the blender, I practically begged her to ask the customer for clarification (I didn't hear the order). And she just solemnly told me he'd been here before and they'd clarified multiple times. This was what he wanted. She was just a kid, too, only 19. I felt so bad that she had to do that.

there’s a coffee shop i go to once a year at most when i visit family out of state and they do have a blended coffee drink with grounds in it. i’ve never seen it anywhere else but i guess it’s a thing

My Turkish coworkers do this. One of them made me do it so I'd be able to have a taste of the coffee before buying it? I don't recommend it, but it's wasn't all that bad. (I mean the whole bean part)

I think he wanted only a mocha cookie crumble Frappuccino. When people are ordering, it’s hard for us to pause and figure it out, but this one seemed to easy, not confusing at all. More over communication imo is better than less communication and assumptions.

i know this doesn't always help but sometimes after an order of a frappuccino/cappuccino i say "okay one hot drink coming up!" and that usually makes them go "no i want it cold!" and that's how i figure out they ordered it wrong
