I feel it depends on the manager. Each manager looks for different qualities based on their and the store’s needs.
When I interviewed, I emphasized my strengths which was the knowledge I had, the values I held, how strongly I cared about our baristas and customers.
Your manager might be looking for similar qualities but may have different emphases. From what it sounds like, he’s looking for someone who is in charge and not afraid to speak their mind in order to create change and get things done. This doesn’t mean you have to completely sell yourself as a different person, but definitely emphasize what you bring to the table and explain your why’s and how’s. You gotta show what makes you competent and that you’re in it to win it.
