finally quitting (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by sokkamycock
i’ve been waiting for this honestly since i got here. that’s not even an exaggeration. i was hired to work in august and was given a day of training, and it wasn’t even on bar. i wasn’t trained on bar until october, and even now, i don’t get any time on it. constantly, i’m either on CS or window. i’ve requested to be put on bar to my SM and several SSV and they did it about once (i’m not slow on bar, i get the drinks out in time…)

additionally, my SM is rude and treats me like i’m slow and stupid. any time i ask her something, she talks down to me as if i’m a child and it’s honestly so demeaning. i don’t think ive had a single good shift while working here, and i know it’s been almost 4 months, but i’m genuinely sick and tired of it. my coworkers are rude, my SSVs don’t respect me and treat me as if im much lower than them and the customers are so condescending and straight up mean sometimes.

i applied to a smaller and cozier coffee shop right by my house and was accepted. im gonna be putting my 2 weeks notice in. however, idk when to do that since i was literally on sick leave until this week. should i just do it tomorrow after my shift?

If you want to give notice in person I would say wait until after your shift, otherwise you can always email the notice to your SM and make sure to give a nice long notice about how you were treated and that they as a SM really failed to make this "your third place".

Depends on how quick you can start the other job. Unless you want to take time off in between.

if you can start sooner, I recommend working on a day your SM and/or SSV are working with you. Take your break or if they have a moment and ask if you can speak with one or the other if available.

Ask them that in trying to better yourself, what do they see in you that is lacking as being part of the team (and tell them to be honest). If it is rude or mean then you will know its personal. If it is the standard BS that you dont have enough experience or need to work a bit harder, then they failed you as a supervisor and they are at fault.

Thank them for their feedback, hand them your notice and tell them you quit. Walk out of the store with your head held high knowing you made the right decision and start the new job.

You dont owe them anything. They are paying you to provide a service on behalf of them.

Dont take it personal, take it as a lesson that people act the way they do for no good reason and when placed in a position of power they will take full advantage of it. You will encounter these people all throughout your life and the better prepared you are, the better off you will be.

You're not legally required to give notice. You can just walk away.

if it doesn't hurt your financial situation 100% go for it. its fucking Starbucks, make like a 👻 and block the number/email of whomever would be the one to deal with "hey where's OP"

Ugh this sounds almost EXACTLY like my situation. I'm probably close behind honestly. I don't know how much longer I can take being on window, dto, and food at the same time for multiple hours
