I don’t know how things work in the mysterious temple of the Siren, but the news suggests that all US partners are looking forward to a wage increase. The unionizing stuff in New York is getting messy and the company would prefer not to see the idea spread.
What I *do* know is that any level of management at a national chain is a 150% increase in stress and a 15% increase in wages. This is something you should only invest seriously in if Starbucks is your future career plan. Otherwise see if you can get them to pay for college.

I already know Starbucks is giving us a raise, but its not happening until the middle of next year but i need more money now and if I don't get it, I might be in serious financial trouble. Im breaking even every month.

Starbucks barely pays a livable wage for any barista position anyway. You *should* be working on getting out of there. Its paid like a temp position, treat it like one.

Yeah, I worked as a barista for 5 years. Moved stores occasionally when I needed to move, but was very loyal and good at my job (working at shady locations, you get used to the death threats and the people ODing in the bathroom). I actively asked for more responsibilities and was given more shifts, but no additional trainings. Managers always said I wasn't management material, but never explained to me what I needed to change. I saw 2 managers leave and many positions for shift sup opened up, but I was never considered for either. They got all outside hires and promoted a kid after 3 months to shift sup while I'd been at the same location over 2 years. I'm not denying there were ways I could've improved, but I was never given the opportunity to do so. Good luck moving up, if that's what you really want to do. I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you, though.

Sit down with your boss and directly ask for those responsibilities. If they say no, ask them what you need to do to get them. Have it written down, or write it down yourself and send a follow up email listing the requirements back to your boss for record. End the meeting by scheduling a follow-up for review if these requirements were met in 3 months.
THEN GO BE A BADASS AND CONQUER THE LIST.
Making them list the requirements gives you a roadmap, and stops letting them be vague about you "not being ready."
If the backtrack on any of it, leave. Find another Starbucks. Managers that want to keep you where you are exist, they are the worst, and it's not worth spending time trying to win them over. You might never. Good luck!

My SM never tells me exactly how to improve. I have to hear it from the shifts. "Oh you need to work on your confidence." Bro, in what??? I already know I'm good at my job. How can I be confident that I can be a shift if no one will attempt to train me?

Being a ssv is more than about yourself, you have to care for the whole team. By the way you’re talking I can see there being potential, but I’d try and find ways to help your team grow. If people aren’t listening, think of other ways to approach it. Coaching others isn’t a one shoe fits all thing. If you want we can chat more just dm me

Most of the partners know what they're doing, but when I have feedback to give, no one seems to listen or care. I even tell people positive things too but I doubt that counts in my supervisors' eyes. No one gives me a chance to train anybody so no one really gets to see my potential.

Set some goals for your team. Help them reach them. Then report your success to your supervisor. Make a snazzy report with piktograph. Who cares if it seems excessive or weird; if they won’t give you chances you’ve gotta make your own.

Having a job making food or coffee is only good as a stop gap measure. It's not a good career. You will always be overworked and underpaid for the work you do. It seems like the few jobs that you are looking into that actually pay a decent wage are bartending and being a waiter. There is no future as a career making food or serving coffee/tea etc.

Making food or coffee is an honest living and a respectable job like any other. Not everyone wants to be a software engineer. If you can find a workplace that gives you a wage you can live on as a cook or barista, then what's the issue?

Yes I totally agree with you. Every job deserves respect. I was just telling the truth about committing to a career in making food. The fact is that you will not get properly paid for the work you do making food. Waiters and bartenders can actually make a decent living. Most workers that make food are unfairly paid for their skill. So that's why my advice is to get into bartending/being a waiter if someone wants to be in that industry.
