How to quit due to mental health?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by lumivois
283XXXX here. So my mental health has been declining rapidly as my college semester finishes (it doesn't help that i'm extremely behind on work) so me and my therapist have agreed that I need to quit starbucks in order to have any hope of finishing my work. I wanted to give a two-weeks notice, but in two weeks my semester will be over so it doesn't help. Any advice on how to quit with a short notice in the best way possible? I won't lose too much sleep over this in general bc my boss is an asshole, but I'm new to quitting jobs, so I'd like to hear any advice.

Write a letter or email (paper trails are great) informing your SM of your resignation “effective immediately” or “effective [date]” then add a little thank you for the opportunity to work there and that you’re available if they have any questions. Should be easy enough. Good luck & congrats on getting out- welcome to the other side💚

Two weeks is recommended, not necessary. Drop your crap off and dip.

You aren't legally required to give notice. You can just walk away.

Marzapolitan already gave the advice, so follow it. But best of luck with the end of the semester, you’re doing the right thing prioritizing your mental health.
