I greet a woman on the speaker box this morning, and she goes “YES so I’m going to be late for work and I need to get out of line but I can’t because of the curb” and I’m like …I’m sorry, we’re a bit short-staffed this morning (and have been for like two years but you know) but we’re working as quickly as possible to get the line moving! And she’s kind of yammering on about needing me to do something about it so she can leave and I just kind of repeated what I already told her. The line moves up and she peels away - like four feet. Aaaanyway maybe five minutes pass and she pulls up to the window and just starts frantically chewing me out about how I should have been able to help her out and she’s a nurse and she’s going to get in SO much trouble for being late and she like, can NOT be late for work and I’m like brooooo then go to work already. But I was actually like “I’m really sorry, but there isn’t much I could have done” and she goes “WELL you could have asked the cars ahead of me to pull up” and I’m just like ??? Okay yes sure I’ll inconvenience a line of people AND pull away one of two people making drinks/food to run orders out to pulled-up cars because you *needed* your skinny latte before work but your time management is garbage. Nah. I basically was like “well no, I’m not going to do that ever, sorryyyyyy” and she did that annoying scoff/laugh thing and drove off.
