Drive-thru restaurants were first implemented around 1921…(self.starbucksbaristas)

…so why do so many people still not understand how they work.
I am so sick of people who pull up and impatiently yell “HELLOOOO?!” within* 0.5 seconds.
I worked at Arbys DT when I was 16, over two decades ago, and people were not this…special back then.
Happy Saturday!
EDIT: apparently my phone thinks I write “witching” more than “within” haha

For real I make people wait when they do that even if I’m not busy. 😅

I’m just on drive bar, not DTO but every time I just say to myself “dang girl chill out. You just got here”
BigMackerels15 points1y ago
Same. And then I make sure to say "Thanks sooo much for your patience" when I do finally take their order.

When I worked at McDonalds, I would always say “Thank you for choosing McDonalds, I’ll be with you in just a moment!” and if they started ordering I would wait til they got through the whole order or half of it and then “Thank you so much for your patience, what can I get for you?” Pure bliss :)

LMAO same i loved doing that at mcdonalds. Or just in general if they were rude while ordering id just pretend they cut out and make them repeat it

AGREE. I’m so tired of impatient people.

This lady goes “HELLO CAN YOU HEAR ME” as soon as she pulls up, every time. If I ignore her someone else jumps on and gets it and I internally sigh
victorious_gem14 points1y ago
I will literally say on headset on the b-side, they can wait bc these ppl need to learn patience

Idk if anyone here would remember but drive-thrus back in the 80's-before was very quick like. If you had a special request, you had to go to the side of the restaurant or they would ask you to go in. I never ate at restaurants because I wanted my cheeseburgers plain. That's why in and out is still that way. I'm not sure if they are anymore but they didn't give you options back in the day. It stems from that. My stupid comment of lame nostalgia. It doesn't surprise me that people are more demanding with drive thrus.

I just love when people do this and then hit me with the “Can I get a minute to look at the menu?” ……like oh, forreal?
