my coworker does that too but I realized it’s only on days that are super busy. She’s the sweetest on other days but the busiest times she treats me like I’m stupid (even when I don’t ask questions) so I think sometimes people resort to that voice. being completely fake always works and they let up eventually. like “oh thank you SO much!!!” because it gives them the opposite reaction they want lol

My SM is occasionally the same. I’m still haunted by the memory of coming into the back room, her asking what I was looking for, me asking where oatmeal cups and lids are since she just told me to restock the oatmeal station, and her going “with the cups and lids” in the most monotone voice.
Dude. You have to MEAN that you think I’m dumb to say it the way that she did. I’d been working there a month and it was plenty feasible that they’d be somewhere else. Still happens every once in a while when I ask a question that has an obvious in hindsight answer. I kinda decided I have to deal with her thinking I’m an idiot because I know I’m not and it’s not alllll that she thinks about me. I may be an idiot to her, but I’m also an idiot that she can trust on bar during peak after two months working and apparently that makes me a little cool.
Add: Right, she always asks what I’m looking for in the back room even if I’ve been looking for it for all of two seconds. Most of the time it’s an inch in front of my face or she tells me where it is but I don’t process what she means so she just watches me search.
