Welcome To The Dark Ages (self.starbucksbaristas)

So this has been a fantabulously fricken awesome few days.

Lately we've been getting a bit of moderate rain. Well, on Sunday night, Mother Nature just decided to empty her bladder full stop on us and we got quite the storm, resulting in a power outage that went from about 18:30 till roughly 12:30 the next day.

Guess what that means? All milks, food...everything needs to GO. So after volunteering to help at another store which was one of several picking up the overflow from us and a couple other locations closed due to power outages, I proceeded to another location to grab some overflow milk and food to help replace some of what we had to toss out.

So into my car goes something like 30-odd milks and a few boxes of food. I rush to our store where I meet two of my baristas who help me dump out all the now-not-food-safety-standard milks and food, and restock the fridges. Do a pull of food for the next day, make all the new fraps and mochas and other stuff that had to be tossed out today, since we were closed all day...basically get the store set up for morning from ground zero.

So whatever. Fine. Crisis averted. And today was my day off, but my manager asked if I would attend the second sip happening in town today. Which was fine by me. And it allowed me to pick up another batch of milk from that same store to help us restock. Did I mention that after the first run, my car smells like so much spoiled milk? Yeah, well today didn't help that any.

But again, whatever. It helps get us back on our feet and resume some sense of normalcy.

Yeah, right.

Guess what happened at about 19:30 tonight? Yup. Power out again. Now I'm sitting here, an hour and a half later, PRAYING to every god that will listen to PLEASE not let all that shit I just brought up go bad.

Imma whiskey it up for now and just play some Mario Party. Cause what the hell else am I gonna do?

Cheers. 🥃

Yeah dude ur clocked out right now. Leave all that stress at work. They don’t pay you enough for that. Don’t take on the burden of the city’s power outage upon yourself. Don’t take on the burden of your entire store. You have don’t enough already. Thank you

I appreciate the sentiments. And although I'm complaining, it's more about the situation of the power outage as a whole. I don't mind helping out the store and supporting my team. It's just the futility that really hit hard.

Thanks for the kind words!
