I made the same switch earlier this year, and honestly working on bar helped the most. Since I knew the job they didn’t really have to train me, so instead they just stuck me on bar and I’d have to decipher the codes on the drinks. As the other commenter said, it’s mostly based on the first letters of each word in a drink! But please don’t be afraid to ask, I had to ask over and over until it stuck, but now I’m totally confident in it. Good luck!!

Hi! I recently went to a corporate store FROM a LS. Generally, the abbreviations are pretty simple. Most of the time it’s just the first letter of the drink name or modification (ICCB- Irish cream cold brew, L for latte, IC for iced coffee, etc). There are even quizlets I believe with the written versions. The thing most people struggled with would be adding an ‘R’ for caramel drinks- for example, a caramel frap is CrF whereas a coffee frap is CF. It can get confusing. Same with the iced green tea with lemonade (GTL) vs the matcha green tea (GrTL). It’s not all too confusing- it just takes practice. Good luck!
