My bf put in his two weeks and his manager said he’ll be “ineligible for rehire” for not finishing out the posted schedule? (Quitting on a Monday)(self.starbucksbaristas)

He’s worked there 2.5 years, everyone loves him, two former store managers he had good and great relationships with, new one from big box out of company store hates him. Is this really a thing? His new job is better and more $$$ but I want him to have something he could go back to if need be? He needs the insurance lol
Put in his two weeks in writing to manager on a Monday, she was fake sad and gave him one last person to train, two weeks on a Monday he’s leaving.
Don’t work there just hate the company. He lurks but no Reddit so I made the post ***

So the manager basically gets to decide whether or not they click the box for rehire eligibility. The thing is, not being eligible for rehire does not actually mean you can't be rehired as dumb as that sounds. It will just be marked in the system and if he reapplies, the hiring manager will be told that when they call to check for eligibility. The new manager can still decide to hire him regardless of that.

That’s good to know, but very dumb. Do you know if that is a formal rule? Like must finish out scheduled time even if you put in two weeks notice and work those?

Nah, two weeks is two weeks and honestly is just a formality. He's been gracious enough to let them know what his last day of work will be, if he wants, he can call up partner contact and say that he gave his two weeks notice and his manager stated that if he didn't continue working past that, they'd make him ineligible for rehire. Be super curtious about it and ask if that's the policy for the company. It should probably be taken care of pretty quickly after that.

That isn't right. 2 weeks isn't required. Not rehirable is supposed to be used for things like theft, harassment. Prioritizing your own career and life is not a crime.
Tell him to call DM or PRSC.

Is DM district manager? She hand picked his store manager from outside the company - his storage manager can do no wrong. And ty! It didn’t seem right to me but she doesn’t like him so she tries to make everything suck lol. He closes every single weekend all weekend (with nearly open availability, everyday, after early morning)

Yep that is dm. That sort of favoritism isn't uncommon tbh. I'd tell him to call partner resources and just "inquire" as to what makes someone not rehirable and explain the situation. Come at it from "id love to work here again but..." Nothing to lose. It opens a case so its your best bet, but there is a very high chance the manager will find out, so be advised!

I wouldn’t sweat it. If your BF needs a back up, they can literally apply to any other QSR brand and get rehired.
Labor market is so tight right now that there’s no reason to not leave on your terms, regardless of how salty the SM gets.

I wouldn't go back to starbucks if I get get more money like that. Even now that I got fired I don't even wanna go back and like reapply.
I don't blame people for faking entire personalities for this job lol you all do what you have to do. Cause they fired me. I am just stay free.
