Question about the Coffee Master Program (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Shiroyu
I guess this isn’t so much a question “about” it, but more so, does it still exist (or is there something that has taken its place)? I’m a fairly new partner (joined on in September) and I’ve really kind of fallen in love with learning about coffee and most other things in the store. I’ve received a lot of praise and positive feedback from those in charge at my store and it’s encouraged me to try to further my knowledge in any way I can.

Today my ASM mentioned his experience with the Coffee Master program but it sounded like it’s no longer a thing. He also made it sound like there is no longer a way to get a black apron, but I’m just wanting to confirm that and/or see if there’s anything similar out there now.

Any advice is appreciated! And even if it’s not specifically the Coffee Master program, I’d love to hear any other thoughts on how I can improve my knowledge and skills. Thank you in advance!

I believe you can still get into the program by working part time for license store such as sbux in target or airport. Then you can quit there once you have your black apron.

Oh word? So it’s only discontinued at like, corporate Starbucks then? That’s really strange. That wouldn’t be a bad idea, but I actually do like my store and my coworkers. The apron ain’t worth all that.

Yeah license store is operated differently so they get to keep their program.

And they replaced the coffee master program with Global Academy, still got good content minus the black apron.
