i just started at SB a five months ago and as much as I love all of my partners, I can’t help but think of what they say about me. none of them have expressed problems towards me but ALL of them talk shit about each other (except 3 people) and then when they work together they are super friendly.
i thought when I got hired it would be different because of how much emphasis there is for connection and “safe and inclusive space”, but it’s just not.

I don’t engage in it bc I haven’t been around enough to know everything but a lot of the time it’s just unnecessary, i get it’s nice to vent sometimes but doing it over the headset is just distracting and changes the team energy I was expecting.

Also will just shit talk customers and idk I hate wearing the headset bc it’s constant negativity when I’m trying to stay motivated

Is it like this at most stores or should I try to switch locations

Mine is the same, I don’t know what it is, but I’ve never been around such toxic people before. This isn’t my first job either.

It’s not all like this. There are two partners my store talks/talked about. One (used to be) very rude and had been making offensive comments and coming after other partners for no reason. They were talked about to shift leads and other partners would also share their negative experiences with them. Very much a “should I report this...” kind of talk. The other was trained well but very slow and could not keep up on anything, and again it was between shifts talking about how to improve her skills. So no gossip or anything but these were the only 2 negative-type talks. Other than that we laugh about customers who are over the top or predatory towards other customers, but it’s a very supportive space. I’d suggest talking to your sm directly and talk about what’s going on; and if things don’t improve maybe look for another locatuon

My old store was like that, i transfered when I moved and the team I have now is the best group of people I have ever worked with.

A great team makes all the difference, and if yours doesnt work well for you there is always the option to change stores. It can really make or break a job, same with managers. You spend so much of your time in that environment, make sure its a positive one.
