Wrist pain?!? Help (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by professionally_bad
Hey guys! I've been working here since June and these past couple of weeks I've been developing wrist pain. Just wondering if any other baristas experience this and if you do, do you know how to take care of it/what is it?

Yeah it's probably like ~~caramel~~ carpal tunnel. They recommend doing stretches before your shift, esp if you're going to be on bar. Once you start to have it, a wrist brace or compression wrap-like thing can help. Best to talk to a dr about THAT, but ultimately, yes, an unfortunately normal side effect of being a barista

I feel like this should be on the list of benefits...smh

Fr. I somehow didn't get it until about 5 or 6 years in, but i had seen others need it sometimes. You can get a cheap brace at walmart that'll do a decent job. And try to minimize straining your wrist (so pay attention to which direction or pressures make it hurt!)

I did often hear it get jokingly called caramel tunnel, so i'd def be careful with the extra caramels. Just unscrew and pour from an end of the bottle if you gotta satisfy that 5x extra caramel walls person
