Using Sick Time Retroactively (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by AccountablePanda
This is my last week, and I started in April. In September I got written up for calling out but I was going to use my sick time that day. I’ve never used my sick time so I didn’t know I had to write it down somewhere… is it okay if I write it in the book now, or is it too late? I feel like I should be able to because I was actually sick and I had sick time back then (about 10 hours) that I intended to use but forgot about.

It can be put in as a retroactive adjustment by your manager.

I'm sorry, but yeah it's way too late. That would need to be entered in the payroll week you would have used it. (By that Monday when payroll is done)

But what if someone’s sick on Sunday and doesn’t have their next shift til after Tuesday?

That might be fixed via payroll correction, or when you call it on Sunday you could verbally tell your SM to put it in in and sign off on it later.

But from back in September that's way too late. Also pretty sketchy they wrote you up for that now. I hope you're headed towards a better job than this
