Cis straight people are a minority in my store somehow. I work at Gaybucks and as a trans dude I appreciate it lmfao

Trans guy. My coworkers are pretty accepting of it. One of my shifts lowkey likes to misgender me when he's mad at me so i want him dead but it is what it is. Id say its very, very dependent on your environment so you should try and sus out how it is at your store before you decide to come out. And if you decide to, be assertive, and dont be afraid to correct your coworkers on your pronouns and name. I str8 up just dont respond to my deadname or feminine pronouns, not even w customers cos fuck em. You can do this !!

Report that Behavior. That is 100% not ok, and it’s serious enough that folks in a nearby district to me were fired for it. It’s written into coaching and corrective action resources for store managers, so it’s not like there’s any ambiguity around how to handle it or it’s importance.
Edited to include the info that I am a store manager and if you need advice or just want to talk through anything, feel free to DM me.

I work with two non-binary people and everyone at our store uses their preferred pronouns without issue

I'm a trans guy, but I still present very femininely bevause I just like it. I have he/him writted on my name tag and also a giant blue he/him pin that I wear on my apron, but a lot of my coworkers and customers for whatever reason just dont pay attention to them??
the coworkers I've explicitly told to their faces have been very accepting and gracious (for the most part 😑), and a lot of my other coworkers just kind of oicked it up by osmosis, but some of them just don't seem to know or notice, despite over half the store using my correct pronouns at this point? I have a masculine name too since I had my manager change it in the system so i don't really understand what is keeping the rest of my coworkers from using my pronouns.
I guess I'm lucky that it doesn't bother me too much, but the fact that I'm not that bothered has also kinda lead me to complacency, so I don't really come out to that many people anymore 💀
also two of my shift leads are really annoying about it in very different ways. one of them will misgender me and then make a scene about apologizing and she even said "don't hit me" once as if that was EVER on the table, and the other shift will hear someone misgender me and immediately jump to correct them, BUT she always corrects them by telling them the WRONG pronouns (they/them???) and then correcting HERSELF, which only ever leads to confusion, and the person she "corrected" just learns absolutely nothing and I don't feel like clarifying at that point. it's frustrating. I have other trans coworkers that seem to get gendered perfectly fine, but because I'm the one that is gnc I get the freak end of the stick and have to deal with the most annoying parts of transphobia 🙄

I'm not trans or enby, but at my store we have a few trans and enby partners and I've never seen them be disrespected, everyone ive seen makes an effort to use their preferred name and pronouns. One of my coworkers has a transphobic family and I know he really likes coming in cause it's a bit of a safe space for him
In my own experience, I'm openly bisexual, and all of my coworkers have been more than accepting. There's actually a whole bunch of openly lgbtq+ partners at my store, and everyone is pretty open / accepting
This is just my store and experience. You could always ask around to the coworkers you know better, or other lgbtq+ partners at your store to get an idea of your store's culture

i am a femme enby, they/them, and have been at my current store since september. maybe 10% of my store is supportive; the rest either don’t care, don’t care to try, or use improper pronouns to weaponize and bully. i’m one of 4 they/thems at my location and the only SSV enby so it’s really not a *new* concept, they’re just ignorant and jerks. :/

Majority of my coworkers are in the LGBTQ community including me and everyone gets along well

Trans guy here- my team is amazing! Like seriously, they've been so kind to me. I transferred to my current store right when I was starting T, and they've been so supportive through my transition. They always apologize if they use the wrong pronouns, and they are very defensive and ready to help me out if a customer misgenders me as well. Most of my team is some flavor of queer anyhow, but of course I'm still a minority; yet they try to be respectful and it means so much. I was so scared about being out as trans at my store, but it's been great and full of love.

i love “some flavor of queer” i shall start using that

non binary bisexual partner here and it's the only place I've ever felt accepted tbh and I love my partners for it
teensofstyles2 points1y ago
openly genderqueer (all prns) at my work and everyone is wonderful! our store has multiple other trans partners and everyone is supportive and respectful (with the exception of our sm who has gotten written up for using the wrong prns for a partner as "punishment"). good luck if you decide too!! make sure to remind others about your pronouns/name and put it as your "preferred name" in the system so you'll come up with the name you now go by on the schedule

we don’t have any out trans folks on our staff but a good 85-90% of the staff is gay, bi, or pan. generally people who work at starbs are pretty accepting of lgbtq+ folx, mostly because they are lgbtq+ lol

Depends. Start by finding the queer or queer-accepting/adjacent/ally members of your team and seeing what they think of trans or enby ppl.
The first time we got a trans employee some years ago, i had heard some previous transphobic jokes and let my boss know prior to their hiring, so they could communicate with the team about it, and i didn't hear anything since, usually. (That partner did not stay long for reasons unrelated to the team's acceptance, iirc.)
We had an enby partner sometime later and the team was cool about it.
I'm not out about it bc i have ?????? pronouns and somewhere between that and agender, and i like a lot of the sparkly girly pink femme stuff, so I don't feel confident in giving an introductory 101 on non-binar but also i'm aroace and i can give 101 and 202s on that to ppl, and *that's* easier for me to be out about than "i'm not woman i'm just ???/agender." So trying to ask ppl to respect the nebulous while you have to explain the nebulous is exhausting. I did recently get to come out to a coworker almost twice my age though!! And my boss, too. ~~And i guess if any of my coworkers follow me on insta but most of them leave me alone lol~~
But yeah sbux is generally more queer friendly among the team, if you're in the right area. Can't vouch for customers 💀

my SM is trans and almost everyone is out in the community it’s really nice and accepting
Binx_da_gay_cat2 points1y ago
I'm out to my store but not at home. They're supportive and I sent a message out to not use my name in front of my family if they come in (I'll warn them) and they all seem chill with that.
I love love love work though :)

I think it really depends on where you live/work.

4 of us are trans at my store (including my manager! wooo!) and about half of the employees are queer. some of the cishet ones still have trouble using my pronouns but i know there’s no malice behind it and they’re trying
