I dont know if this is a pet peeve that only bothers me or if it bothers others too, when people don't say/obviously show how they are paying and just stand there. (self.starbucksbaristas)

Basically it really bothers me when people are fiddling with their wallet and then stare at me waiting for me to turn on the card reader then hand me a gold card. Or when I tell someone their total and they just lean over staring at the register total holding their phone not moving. Then get upset at me because they are using apple pay or the app.
How am I supposed to know what you're doing?? You didnt say anything! Whenever Im paying for something with card or whatever, I just look at the person, hold up my card to show it n say 'on card'

I usually just ask “how will you be paying today?”

I honestly just tell them the total and have started asking if they will be paying with the app. If its yes, then I tell them where to scan by pointing at the scanner (and thus avoiding them shoving it at my face). If its no, 99% of the time they just say how they are paying and it also allows me to leeway into asking their name if they are not using the app (to appease the customer connection score).
In the end, it stops from me having to play a dumb guessing game.

I just say "you can scan whenever you're ready" and they'll tell me what they are actually paying with. It's annoying but nothing a quick cash injection into the American education system can't fix.
