At what point do we ban a regular customer? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Random-Brunette
I can't give too many details, but I have a regular, extremely difficult customer. The whole staff knows them and when we hear their voice on the headset, we start pumping each other up and even voluntarily take turns dealing with them at the drive through window. The customer hasn't done anything blatantly ban-worthy like swear, use discriminatory language, or get physical, but their brand of near daily verbal abuse and negativity is so draining. They've threatened to take their business elsewhere more than once before and I was so tempted to say, "please do" this last time. We'd be better off missing out on the $6-12 they spend because we waste so much product on remakes, and it kills drive through times and morale.

I seriously want to know where is the line a customer has to cross to get banned? As incompetent as my store apparently has been for at least 6 months (according to the customer), I'm surprised they still come.

Thanks.

Your dm will never let you do it. The company will always side with the customer no matter how dumb and shortsighted it often is and how it causes worse service for other customs and cause other customers to stop coming.

if EVERYONE tells your manager how much yall hate them maybe something can be done 🤨 I don't know the logistics of banning customers but if literally everyone hates them AND it kills drive times AND y'all are actively losing money on this person, then having your coworkers all back you up and state all these points clearly can net you much better results than if you just went up to your manager while on your lunch to kinda mention you dont like this customer yknow? I hope it works out whatever happens 😅
