My store is DT, and it is the focus of our entire store. Only one window, but two people work it during peak, one taking orders (DTO) and one taking payment and handing out drinks/food at the register (DTR), and throughout the day (not just peak) we try to keep two people on bar, one for cafe and one for drive-thru. My store does roughly 70% of its total business via drive-thru, so it is easy to see why so much manpower is dedicated to it.
