Im getting surgery in a month, and for 6 months after that I won’t be able to lift my arms above my shoulders. Will i still even be able to work at ⭐️bucks? Can i be fired/have my hours significantly reduced because of this?

You can apply for a medical leave of absence and or submit a request for accommodations. Talk to the store manager and Sedgwick.

You cannot be retaliated against for a medical accommodation. They can say they can't accommodate you, but it's rare.
I went on a short leave and then was restricted to holding items no heavier than 8lbs, no sweeping/mopping, and no more than 30 minutes on a single position at a time. This was decided after I went to my doctor and described my typical tasks at work and what I thought involved my shoulder the most. I kept my normal full time hours and nothing really changed except I would swap positions for someone else to lift heavier items or sweep.

Call sedwick, they will explain Starbucks disability & also your state’s disability laws.

I don’t see why you can’t, unless you are one of those fancy tictok barista who steam milk above your head.
Maybe not CS cuz you might have to reach that top shelve for restock

i think you have to call sedwig or whatever it is but there is a way to go on a leave of absence and still hold your position for when you're able to come back! just talk to your manager, they'll know who to call!

you got disability pay? can you elaborate on that for me please?
wildwolfwitch691 points1y ago
yes, through sedgewick you should get disability pay for the duration of your leave. depending on the state, the state disability may pay more and youll have to file disability thru the state (what i had to do)
