Am I being mean or inappropriate?(self.starbucksbaristas)

Walking into every shift I always try to be positive and happy but when I come in a lot of the time other partners and even shifts give me an attitude when I come in and am I mean to defend myself in situations where I hear them talking bad about me and when I actually confront them about issues they have with me?

One of my favorite things was when me and another barista started joking one day about how we were gonna fight each other in the Giant parking lot (my old store is in a standalone building attached to a bank but it's in front of a shopping center with a Michael's, a Giant, and a St Mary's urgent care. The Giant is right behind us). We used the Giant parking lot because there's lots of cars lol and that lot is not on company property technically so we couldn't get in trouble 😉 It cracked everyone up so it became a thing where any time it got a little tense or someone wanted to break the tension someone would be like "Aight, let's go. Giant parking lot." and someone would respond and it would get hilarious a lot of times 😂

I’m kidding.
You could ask them what their problem with you is. Let them know they’re creating a toxic work environment and it’s making you uncomfortable because you can hear them talking about you. Sorry this is happening to you I know the feeling and it sucks.

this reminds me of a regular we have in the summer we have who said he’d referee for our store barista fight night (joke) and he had his money on me and my fellow shift lmao

I’d love to see a couple of my coworkers fight they argue so much 😂

Honestly, get a new job if you can. Environments like this don't change. If its just one person and you don't always work with them, then maybe you can stick around. But it sounds like it's a culture of gossip and negativity. I worked in an office like that for 2 years because the pay was so good, bit I was miserable the whole time. With what Starbucks pays, you can probably find an equivalent job that doesn't make you miserable.
