free drink policy? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by peanutbutterbarbie
when i clock out can i just make drinks and take them home? do i have to ring up my free stuff before i clock out? am i allowed to take more than one drink? pls help lmfao no one ever explained this to me and i don’t wanna get in trouble for taking a couple drinks home after my shifts lol
RoughEvidence 28 points 1y ago
If you mark out drinks during your shift, you can take them home. Not to sound like I’m sneaky, but I’ll mark a drink out right before my shift ends and then one after my shift, so I have two drinks I can take home, neither of which I had to pay for.

When you clock out you can take one free drink home for yourself. If you take more than one you have to pay for the others but get to use your partner discount on them. But regardless you still are supposed to ring everything up, even if it’s just for your one free drink. It’ll just mark your drink out and discount anything else you order.

ohh ok this makes more sense, thank you!!

You’re welcome!

You get 1 free drink 30 minutes before, as many as you can drink during, and 1 up to 30 minutes after.

so can i bring drinks home if i’m still clocked in? or is it just one?
peachiez_ 15 points 1y ago
if you clock out at say, 2:30, you can only get one free drink up until 3. any other drink you have to pay for but you can use your discount. but let’s say, for whatever reason, you wanna make as many drinks for yourself on the clock as you can, you could technically throw them all in your car and take them home without paying for them.

i,,,,, wouldn’t advise this per se? cause it might get some sort of reprimanding but by all technicalities i think you *could* do that.

It is a partner beverage intended for partners you may extend your 30% discount to anyone else that wants a drink when you leave if you take more than one drink it definitely looks like you are bringing home drinks for somebody else whether you are or you aren't

Okay so I'm too lazy to read all the comments but the gist of it is you get unlimited free drinks half an hour before, after and during your shift, however if you want to get multiple drinks at the same time you should do 1 drink per transaction if you want them for free
Sdee1234 2 points 1y ago
I think it actually is 5 drinks now. So 1 before, 1 at your 1st break, 1 on your lunch, 1 at your second break and 1 after. But most stores dont set a limit. I can say it would be annoying if someone took advantage and made say 5 drinks at the end of their shift while being in the way on the floor and then took them without paying. I have a partner who does this and still hasnt been formally reprimanded though so i guess you do you and get everything you can out of that greedy siren

I will never in my life understand people who take to this Reddit thread to ask questions they should be asking their managers lol

I used to always being home 3-4 drinks but I would mark them out throughout my shift and then just make them all at the end of it bc they were already marked out and accounted for
Darcie_Autham -6 points 1y ago
Don’t forget to mention that you can take more than one free drink home… in separate transactions.

But that’s only if you don’t work another day or two that week. You still have the free partner markout available until January I think…
HamburgIar_ 5 points 1y ago
That's for food, not drinks.
Ok_Fishing_2728 -5 points 1y ago
huh, i thought it was only one drink a day? and none on our days off
bitch-baby-2021 2 points 1y ago
Nope nope
Necessary_Low939 -3 points 1y ago
Edit: I saw the update. This is only until January.

Rule: One drink before shift, during and after shift three drinks total. One food during shift. U need to mark them out and also get on line for them with your apron off

No one really follows this, I mark out my food and drink but I’d be drinking like 5 drinks 👀👀
CoffeeWMyCat 12 points 1y ago
not quite. you can get one drink up to 30 minutes before, one drink up to 30 minutes after, and then as many as you want during your shift. food you can get up to 7 mark outs per week and they have to be marked out during your shift or up to 30 minutes before/after. therefore if you work one day a week, you can technically get 7 food mark outs in one day. if you work 5 days a week, you could get 2 mark outs on 2 days and 1 the other days, or any combination during the week period adding up to 7

I saw the screenshot of what you are saying. This is only temporarily until January.

That drink one is like ten years ago.
Necessary_Low939 1 points 1y ago
Not in nyc. My sm doesn’t let me even get my food mark out if I don’t work. I heard of what u said before but he said it doesn’t apply.
CoffeeWMyCat 4 points 1y ago
we only get food markouts on days we work now, hence why i said you can get 7 per week and they have to be marked out during your shift or up to 30 minutes before/after. so you don’t get them on days you don’t work. these are the most recent standards implemented when the old covid markout standard expired. i don’t remember when exactly it was put into place but it was within the last couple of months. check your weekly updates again.
Necessary_Low939 0 points 1y ago
We also only get only one food mark out and three drink mark outs during the shift. Again, what my sm said recently, which was two weeks ago.
Necessary_Low939 0 points 1y ago
So two weeks ago there’s a partner outside of nyc who explain that too and the shift at that day and my sm said no, so he called corporate in the store. Corporate said my sm was right. My sm won’t even let me get a drink mark out on the days I don’t work and I never had a home store do that, let alone the food mark out. So I don’t know. I would like it if I can get my 7 food mark out. Other stores and my home store don’t let me 🤷🏻‍♀️
