This used to happen to me all the time and now im mad that I never did anything about it. It was so fucking exhausting. Please say something about it, don't break your back for this company. Also, I think its illegal to skip out on breaks. Don't ever go without a 10 or a 30. Fuck them bitches

Sounds familiar. In my experience, and from what I've seen on the starbucks threads, this is relatively common. I don't know what to tell you other than making it clear to your management that you either need to leave on time or get a lunch. I really need a job right now so I'm probably going to end up at Starbucks again since they're all hiring near me, but my advice would be to try finding a different job. Starbucks are toxic

This is exactly why I limit my availability for closes. You can schedule me up to the time the doors lock but im not staying any later, and it's entirely for this reason. I'm diabetic and can't go 6+ hours of working without eating. That'll severely throw my blood sugar off

Ask for another 10. That way you can rest, but also get out early. A half at that time is just a pain.

I get scheduled 5.5 hrs and I get a lunch. Not sure about 5.45 but ur sm is grimey for doing that.

what state are you in? that impacts labor laws and depending on your state this might be illegal

My SM does this too. Every single shift is 5.45 and I always have to stay 15-60 minutes late.
Starbucks doesn’t care about us workers, they just try to extract as much labor out of us as they can.

As someone who understands how the restaurant business actually works I do know that the closing shift can be expected to stay late regardless of what time the schedule says to leave and I’m not that upset about it. It’s really how all jobs work but here it mostly applies to the closing shift. You stay until it’s done (or close enough really).
Howeverrrrr as a supervisor I understand lunches are still a thing. I and a lot of people I work with would rather not get a lunch tbh. Unless someone has a specific concrete reason for wanting one I don’t really understand why you would want half an hour in a 6 hour period of not getting paid. That doesn’t mean legally you can skip it though. Legally you might not have to take a half hour off the clock but you at least get a working lunch and at Starbucks they’re pretty serious about it being off the clock most of the time (I’ve gotten permission a few times to do working lunches but only under special circumstances).
So whenever I’m closing with someone who is gonna hit that mark we leave before they’d be entitled to a lunch, even if it’s just five minutes before. I’m surprised neither your supervisors or store manager have gotten in trouble before. I’ve accidentally crossed that barrier before without realizing it or meaning to and every time I’ve heard about it.
