THE COFFEE SMELL. THAT YOU HAVE AFTER WORK. Does this drive anyone else crazy bc it’s not fresh coffee. It’s stale, dingy, coffee horror 😩 (self.starbucksbaristas)

It never bothered me. The *milk* smell, on the other hand…
Apprehensive-Cake-91 [OP] 82 points 1y ago
Dude. Yes. If I smell like spoiled milk I immediately have to come home and strip down, wash my clothes and shower or else it smells up my whole house. But like my necklace now has a permanent stake coffee smell so I can faintly smell it 24/7 so I think that’s why it’s driving me so nuts
iqueefkief 18 points 1y ago
yes that and the mocha kill me
shutupsav 12 points 1y ago
or when you’ve been doing dishes for hours and you get the old, moldy water smell 🤢
swollemolle 9 points 1y ago
*Bruh*
hautmess 81 points 1y ago
When I worked at a bagel shop I would stink of onion and garlic so I’d rather smell like stale coffee beans tbh😭
Apprehensive-Cake-91 [OP] 28 points 1y ago
It’s a privileged life 🥲
iqueefkief 16 points 1y ago
i smelled like sour dough and crunch bagel when i worked at panera

i’d leave that place with crumbs in my bra :(
ItzBoogieMan 10 points 1y ago
Damn I’d rather smell like onions and garlic, coffee makes me gag🤮
howdudo 12 points 1y ago
do u work at sb and also coffee makes u gag? id consider serving at a nice restaurant or something
Apprehensive-Cake-91 [OP] 6 points 1y ago
It’s like the smell of stale coffee that’s so bad. Fresh coffee is 10/10
timeandfate 56 points 1y ago
OH GOD I HATE IT SO MUCH!! My first few months of working there I’d actually get nauseous smelling it when I took my hair down from a bun or whatever, now I still hate it but I’m used to it 😭
Apprehensive-Cake-91 [OP] 30 points 1y ago
Oh my GOD yes the hairrrr I don’t like washing my hair every day because it dries it out but I can’t do the smell 😅
timeandfate 15 points 1y ago
LMAO I cannot wash my hair everyday cause it’s long and too much to deal with so I just walk around smelling like SHITTY STALE COFFEE😭😭😭🤣
legoshis 7 points 1y ago
letting down or washing my hair after work makes me 🤢 all i can smell is stank coffee
BatWeary 31 points 1y ago
it’s the worstttt. i have a jacket i bought for work exclusively and no matter how much i wash it the damn thing still smells like stale coffee
Apprehensive-Cake-91 [OP] 18 points 1y ago
Same! I have like a designated work jacket that I only wear to work, and then I wash it once a week. Try downy unstoppable scent beads in lavender! They work the best for really getting the smell to go away :) and it lasts a long time so even if it smells like coffee there’s still a nice smell to it!
postmoderntesla 13 points 1y ago
oxyclean and scent beads are my key to getting rid of coffee and milk stink out of aprons so it might work for your jacket!
far_outtahere 8 points 1y ago
Also try washing soda and borax. You can laundry strip it in a tub, or just add it directly to your wash. Or add vinegar to the wash instead.
amalia13lightning 8 points 1y ago
seconding the vinegar! just dont be a dummy and use red vinegar your first time like i did :)
far_outtahere 4 points 1y ago
good point! WHITE VINEGAR

HOLY SHIT I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE I WAS LIKE WHY DO I KEEP SMELLING MUSTY COFFEE ITS BEEN THIS WHOLE TIME.
Think-Ad-5514 22 points 1y ago
I actually really enjoy the coffee bean smell I get, I used to work at McDonald’s and a bunch of other fast food joints so coffee ain’t too bad to me. But I can understand that it can be overwhelming 🥲
Ethan010529 3 points 1y ago
I was just gonna say this, after working at McDonald's, no matter how much the uniform was washed it still smelt like you dunked it in the fryers 🙃
Bryancreates 13 points 1y ago
My partner always made me change my clothes immediately and shower to get the smell out of my hair. He’d do the laundry so I had clean clothes and a clean apron every day. I stopped noticing it out of shear exhaustion of not giving a fuck anymore. But yeah, your car, your clothes, your hair, your SKIN, all of it. Especially being on CS and grinding coffee all day long. And yeah, milk, bleach, sweat, maybe some drain sludge or dried syrup for a little nuance. Some people dressed up fancy with leather shoes and stayed clean, that wasn’t me.
olivinemultichrome 10 points 1y ago
I swear during frappy hour my arms permanently smelled like frap roast
narviat 13 points 1y ago
as soon as i get home i strip off my clothes and shower, the smell makes me nauseous and i feel like everyone can smell me. its the worst
buubuubitch 9 points 1y ago
No matter how hot the shower is and how long I’m in there, I still get out smelling like it 😭 I used to love how my bf smelled when he worked at Starbucks before me. He always said he hated it, and now I understand
WestRate4708 9 points 1y ago
I straight up block it out now. 😭🤣
kimememememe 7 points 1y ago
I have a really poor sense of smell and I’ve never noticed this D: now I’m worried everyone around me has been smelling it and have been too polite to tell me 😭
fannytraggot 7 points 1y ago
I agree... I'm not a fan of most of the coffee at Starbucks so it's annoying to have to bring it home with me
converselvr 6 points 1y ago
I sometimes find crusty syrup on my clothes. Not the WORST smell. But the texture is awful.
zeewur 8 points 1y ago
Frap roast freckles on your arms 😭🥴
converselvr 5 points 1y ago
Remnants of matcha powder when you sneeze🥴
Emmykinz77 2 points 1y ago
YES
wildaloofrebel55 5 points 1y ago
It only really gets me if I’ve been on bar, but if I have been on bar, I MUST shower and change as soon as I get home.
Apprehensive-Cake-91 [OP] 2 points 1y ago
Yep yep yep, or else your whole place will smell 😵‍💫
PauseAccording20 4 points 1y ago
I used to work at a gas station that had a roller grill, I always smelled like hotdogs. I’ll take the stale coffee smell
alimcc0220 3 points 1y ago
Espresso beans smell like burnt popcorn
Siren_Song252 3 points 1y ago
It’s a mix of burnt coffee, sweat, tears, and spoiled milk
jeanies9 3 points 1y ago
Bro I smell vanilla ALWAYS. IT DOESNT EVEN SMELL GOOD ANYMORE
maemac 3 points 1y ago
There’s so much worse we could smell like! I’m glad coffee is generally accepted as a good smell. My fiancé used to be a cook and she’d come home smelling like fried everything. It was awful! Sometimes I don’t even smell the stale coffee anymore. But anything more than that (milk, syrups) and I’m running to the shower lol
fredforthered 3 points 1y ago
I worked at Sbux and A&F and my signature scent was comprised of leather, coffee beans, mocha syrup, and a hint of milk and Spirit(sbux and a&f editions).
LockAzzy 2 points 1y ago
The only thing I miss about Starbucks is that glorious cleaner. I should have taken a bottle of spirit with me. Oh the magic is worked on milk crusted sinks...And the stink it slayed in bathrooms...
fredforthered 1 points 1y ago
That was some heavy duty stuff.

You knocked loose the memory of cleaning the bathrooms at closing and then having someone drop a mad deuce right after. I told my lead I was never cleaning the bathrooms again.
promisestorm 3 points 1y ago
yes. literally have gotten a whiff of my skin before hopping in the shower and been like “omg is this the equivalent to people working fast food burger joints and smelling like that food when they come out…”
TylerJ716 2 points 1y ago
Deadass me and my shift were JUST talking about this last night 👁👄👁
HunterLost2062 2 points 1y ago
I love it! that way when I sweat in my work clothes I don’t stink I smell like old coffee and when I forget to do laundry it no big deal.
ellsb3lls 2 points 1y ago
stale coffee, spoiled milk… not to mention if you’ve been cleaning the mats or the bathroom 🤮 i feel so gross after work
mrhammerant 2 points 1y ago
And sugar. That sweet smell of nightmare syrup.
RosyHue 2 points 1y ago
I add white vinegar, just a dash, to my laundry and it helps immensely! I learned that way before Starbucks when my restaurant jobs had me smelling like cheese and fried onions 🤢
zzid2d21 2 points 1y ago
Oh lordy! The onion rings.... I used to work at a place where we made our own every Monday. That smell haunts me!
RosyHue 2 points 1y ago
Right?! I was at outback and I hated that smell
nelsda 2 points 1y ago
Better a coffee smell than dried milk smell. So gross. Had many of those days (after cleaning milk fridges, cleaning after spills, etc).
Emmykinz77 2 points 1y ago
Mainly the cold brew smell that will linger on my clothes and body for the entirety of the day. I swear I can smell that scent even after I shower

tayyylorhb 1 points 1y ago
when you take a shower and it smells like coffee is brewing 😭
Getpa 1 points 1y ago
I ALWAYS have to change after working a shift, I feel so gross because of the smell.
kikuuq 1 points 1y ago
For me its specifically the smell of nasty espresso and white mocha, from all the fucking 3×3 and 4×4 people make and I always spill it when im swirling the shots and the white mocha 🙄
lunarmadz 1 points 1y ago
Yes people are like omg you must smell like coffee all the time that’s so good like no it is NOT it smells GROSS

Me when I crawl my crusty ass in my Uber/left after every shift.
sh3nan1gans_ 1 points 1y ago
My fiancé will always be like, “you smell so good.. like coffee” when I come home but I honestly hate the smell because it doesn’t smell fresh like stated. 😭
[deleted] 1 points 1y ago
Lol I honestly don't wear any work clothing out because of it. I keep a shirt or two just for work out after.
Aliciarox11189 1 points 1y ago
The smells is why I bring travel perfume with me
AdBoring3153 1 points 1y ago
the smell of all day working w the coffee is a lot more like tobacco than i would have ever imagined
NobelSquirrel6820 1 points 1y ago
Anyone else just permanently smell like vanilla? I swear it comes out of my pores
Cookiecatx 1 points 1y ago
Yes omg I have to run home to shower and get it off me asap
lilkiosk 1 points 1y ago
I don’t love it, but my husband does, so it’s kind of a win
eddiespaghettio 1 points 1y ago
I quite like it. My dad on the other hand thinks I’ve been smoking because apparently he can’t tell the difference between coffee and third hand smoke.
Brave-Storm 1 points 1y ago
When I quit I jus threw away all my clothes from work because the smell just wouldn't come out
francescugh 1 points 1y ago
its the frappuccino roast
sushibroni 1 points 1y ago
the frap roast smell….
Traditional-Ad-5175 1 points 1y ago
Yes!!! I have to immediately change and put my clothes in a closed bag so they don’t make my room smell. I also am very strategic about which coats/extra stuff I bring
meloscav 1 points 1y ago
When I worked at Sheetz I came home smelling like frying oil 😢
chellichelli 1 points 1y ago
I feel like it’s specifically the smell of frap roast.
LimpSpread9688 1 points 1y ago
Gf says it smells like stale cigarettes🥲
coffeelovak_ 1 points 1y ago
I literally hated that smell
bblonde_ish 1 points 1y ago
i hated it until i came home one day and my hubby asked to cuddle on the couch. i said that i smelt like coffee and he said "no, you smell like a paycheck." haven't complained since 😂
wuddupitsjess 1 points 1y ago
My boyfriend loves the smell of coffee on my clothes when I come home… Where I’m like GET IT OFF MEEEE
bhlusclues 1 points 1y ago
this is so funny i just got out of work and said the same thing to my mom not even 5 minutes ago
sapphic-slut 1 points 1y ago
I have to wash my hands like a nurse, use scented lotion and sometimes, spray something nice smelling in my hair if it's bad enough
boothbygraffoe 1 points 1y ago
As an ex partner from the late 90’s and early 00’s I can tell you without hesitation, that smell is second only to second hand smoke inits nauseatingness
Jena876543 1 points 1y ago
I can’t smell it at the end of the day but everyone else I interact with are shocked by how strong the coffee smell is
kikiorangutan 1 points 1y ago
Anyone else’s bra just stank after work
lexifreda 1 points 1y ago
LETS TALK ABT THIS BECAUSE I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE
122lllllooo 1 points 1y ago
Yea it makes me have headaches and the FUCKIN lights omg
vandilor 1 points 1y ago
i don’t think that i’ve ever noticed it or had it stick to me
LockAzzy 1 points 1y ago
For some reason, it was always coffee and vanilla. A lot of vanilla. I don't remember ever using enough vanilla to smell like that, but alas...
FfierceLaw 1 points 1y ago
I don't mind it. It's worlds better than the Burger King smell my room mate came home with when we were in undergrad
No-Pearl000 1 points 1y ago
it makes me sick
MountainGoat999 1 points 1y ago
It's not too bad, cause I used to work at a pretzel shop and I'd go home every night smelling like butter
Beingme4me 1 points 1y ago
For some reason my ex really liked the smell 🤢
I can stand it, but def not my favorite. I'm just lucky my hair is too short to smell it on my hair anymore.
kittykat-kay 1 points 1y ago
I didn’t notice till my boyfriend pointed it out, it doesn’t bother me
Competitive-Meet 1 points 1y ago
Yesss I hate it
notarobot9001 0 points 1y ago
