Does anyone else remember a time when customers asked for butter in their coffee? Or was that just an oddity at my store 😅

That definitely happened. I used to have to blend hot coffee with butter for this diva man. I’m certain his morning shits were explosive

Bulletproof coffee! The idea is to have the fat with your coffee for calories if you are keto or whatever diet follows the high fat fad. I’m sure there is more to it but…

That was pulled from the depths of my memory, thanks I didn’t need that reminder this morning lmao

I pulled some dude two espresso shots over butter just yesterday!

This seems yuck until you realize that butter is literally just heavy cream and people get whole lattes made with heavy cream AND sugar or synthetic sugar. Also, one time a partner and I made butter in the foam pitcher with heavy cream- made me realize we put like 10x as much heavy cream in an average iced coffee than someone who wants butter in their drink.

the butter would just float on top, wouldn’t it? butter is rather different. most of the water is removed ie buttermilk. they also have a totally different mouth feel

Blended or steamed with a hot liquid causes it to incorporate pretty well and add a nice foam

bullet proof coffee was big a couple years ago in general but especially bc we had grass fed butter pats at the time, now we have sweet cream butter and it kind of defeats the purpose of keto or “brain fuel” or whatever tf they wanna call it lmao. i absolutely refused to do this for customers but would happily give it to them to do themselves. if i can’t prepare someone’s bagel or oatmeal i’m not doing it for their coffee. sns, karen.

In my day it was steamed heavy cream, because Atkins was popular. Then people started doing butter or coconut oil with coffee. AFAIK, it’s a keto thing?
I take my bean juice black or with a splash of alt-milk (usually oat) so I have no idea.

My culinary teacher explained this to us! Butter is heavy cream and usually the older folks sub it for cream and apparently it tastes better? Idk I still wouldn’t try
