Does anyone else’s store have a dailr records book where they write down things throughout the day? I heard through the grapevine that baristas arent allowed to look at it because its a “legal document “ and if they do they will be fired.

I don't? I have a daily records book but that's for the whole team

Yeah that thing

Yeah my kiosk, all my baristas are *encouraged* to read it and write in it. Our DM encourages us to use it, write customer stories in it, and use it to guidance or correction or group praise. If my by the books DM wants all the baristas to know the book idk what your SM is thinking.

the daily records book (or DCR for some reason the acronym is different) is for the shifts and the manager, but there’s nothing preventing baristas from looking at it and you can’t get fired for looking at it. they don’t really need to since none of the info is for them (they don’t need to care about sales or try to find coverage for callouts or call in broken nitro lines) but there’s no reason they shouldnt be allowed to if they wanted to

The dcr is specifically the daily coverage report, its the thing that shows who works and when their breaks should be.

okay we call that a line chart & everyone calls the book the dcr lmao

The book is the DBR daily records book haha the letters are switched for some reason but that's what we call it. The daily schedule is the DCR, the daily coverage report

We have a DCR (Daily Coverage Report) and a Daily Records Book. Neither of which you should get in trouble for reading. The DCR just shows who's coming in and shows when you're most likely to be busy, when breaks should be, etc. The records book actually does have some stuff that's needed for legal reasons (temps and such) but you're not forbidden from looking at it. I used to use it even before I became a shift because I was allowed to help with milk counts and store walks. There's just not really a reason (unless you're really curious about random logistics stuff for your store) that you'd need to look at it. The only thing I will say is that our manager wants us to write things that we have to coach our partners about. So they may not want other baristas to see if your store does that too.

What should your write you time punches in if the system is down if not the DRB?
OneRoseDark5 points1y ago
I know my SM has files on her computer for each of us that we don't have access to, but no there's no physical book.

The daily records book
Mentally-ill-bitch2 points1y ago
They place ours at the registers and I always read through it when it’s slow and even the manager doesn’t mind. Never knew that

The DRB/DRN/same thing diff names is an actual binding legal document. They have to be filled in every day and stored for years. There isn’t really a reason for you to need to see it - it’s super boring, just records of fridge temperatures, health and safety stuff with daily tick lists for things like cleaning. It’s mandatory, all businesses dealing with food safety have to have one or papers documenting the same things - it really isn’t anything to worry about. I can’t think why you can’t look at it, it’s not like there’s blank space to bitch about baristas, it’s just boring necessary paperwork.
impasse602 [OP]2 points1y ago
Youd be suprised i have a shift that writes a lot of dirt on baristas like its a diary
salaciainthedepths1 points1y ago
What haha? I don’t even understand where, there’s no room to write notes in the daily pages?
Necessary_Low9392 points1y ago
I had a horrible sm that did that. Two years ago she got fired.
Key_Estate22931 points1y ago
If I’m thinking of the right book (the one the managers write in) our store manager is pretty strict about it. Only the managers can even look at it, and any other time it’s supposed to be covered or put somewhere where it can’t be read. It could be a store thing and maybe they had issues in the past that caused it to be like that?

We have a DCR. And another book. The DCR is open for view as it just shows who’s scheduled. The other books is the shift book that’s used to document throughout the day. Temps. Counts. Ect. It’s not exactly a legal document but there are portions of that book that’s not meant for anyone other than a shift to view as it has to do with specifics to the company such as phone numbers ect.
