The protocol for calling out is calling the store and notifying them that you won’t be there. If you’re sick then they’ll take care of it; if you’re not sick then you have to find coverage. That’s the policy at my store anyway.

I would talk to your manager face to face the next time you see them. Just to be on the safe side I’d find people to cover your next few shifts.

your policy explanation is correct. don’t let anyone try to tell you you have to find coverage if you’re sick or using sick time. however if you end up needing bereavement days you will need to cover those shifts, but your days off for mourning and/or funeral will be paid

Hey my mom passed away suddenly when I was a month into working at sbux. I didn't even say much, I managed to talk to my manager when he picked up and talked to a couple of shifts. It's fine just take your time to grieve and talk to your manager when you can.
