Alright, I lost my store keys and told my store manager. He said it is against safety and security policy. Which, to me, sounds like it is grounds for termination. Has anyone had experience with this? Honestly, I won’t be too upset if I do get fired but just hate that it’s over an accident.

I worked with a shift who lost their keys in a snow bank (possibly while drunk?) and straight up told the sm. Sm did nothing, just gave them new keys and told them to look for the old ones in spring. 🤷♀️ obviously they never found them.

It is a security violation however accidents happen and they may make you pay for a new key when I had it happen it was 150 :(

It’s definitely 100% illegal to make them pay for new keys.

Accidents happen. All the time. If you got fired for this your SM is a total asshole.
